Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Calcemin Advance is one of the combined preparations containing vitamins, macro- and microelements. Its action is due to the properties of the components that make up it:
- colecalciferol: required for the metabolism of phosphorus and calcium in the body, helps to preserve the structure of bones, takes part in the formation of the bone skeleton, enhances the absorption of calcium in the intestine and reabsorption of phosphorus in the renal tubules;
- calcium: takes part in the formation of bone tissue, reduces resorption and increases bone density, prevents the development of diseases of the musculoskeletal system, helps to strengthen joints and the skeletal system. Calcium citrate ensures the absorption of calcium, regardless of the functional state of the digestive system, which is applicable for the treatment of patients with reduced secretory function of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as during therapy with drugs to reduce secretion; lowers the level of markers of bone resorption, which indicates a slowdown in the process of destruction of bone tissue; regulates the content of parathyroid hormone, which leads to an improvement in the regulation of calcium homeostasis. It does not lead to an increase in the content of calcium and oxalates in the urine, therefore, the formation of kidney stones does not cause;iron absorption does not block, which reduces the likelihood of iron deficiency anemia;
- zinc: has a beneficial effect on bone density, promotes the synthesis of sex hormones, which is an obstacle to the destruction of bone tissue;
- magnesium: takes part in the formation of bone and muscle tissues, as well as in protein synthesis (including type I collagen);
- boron: lowers the excessive activity of parathyroid hormone, helps prevent osteoporosis, improves calcium absorption, and reduces the risk of cholecalciferol deficiency;
- magnesium and zinc: required for the synthesis of organic bone matrix;
- copper: takes part in the synthesis of collagen and elastin, which is part of the connective and bone tissue, influencing the formation of bone mass;
- manganese: takes part in the formation of proteoglycans, which leads to an improvement in the quality of bone tissue and forms the collagen (protein) matrix of bone tissue.
Indications for use
- therapy of diseases of the musculoskeletal system (in order to improve the consolidation of traumatic fractures);
- complex treatment and prevention of osteoporosis of various etiologies in women during surgical / natural menopause, as well as with prolonged use of glucocorticosteroids and immunosuppressants;
- replenishment of the deficiency of trace elements and calcium in adolescent patients.
Contraindications
Absolute:
- renal failure in severe course;
- hypervitaminosis of vitamin D;
- urolithiasis disease;
- hypercalciuria;
- hypercalcemia;
- active tuberculosis;
- sarcoidosis;
- allergy to soy and peanut butter;
- age up to 12 years;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Relative (diseases / conditions in the presence of which the appointment of Calcemin Advance requires caution):
- renal failure;

Instructions for the use of Calcemin Advance: method and dosage

- osteoporosis (as part of complex treatment): 2 times a day, 1 tablet, the average duration of use is 3 months;
- osteoporosis (prevention): 1 tablet once a day, the average duration of use is 2 months;
- improving the consolidation of traumatic fractures, replenishing the deficiency of trace elements and calcium in adolescents over 12 years old: 1 tablet once a day, the average duration of use is 1–1.5 months.
Side effects
- digestive system: diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, flatulence, constipation;
- metabolism: hypercalciuria, hypercalcemia;
- allergic reactions: rash, itching, urticaria.
Overdose
An overdose of Calcemin Advance can cause vitamin D 3 hypervitaminosis, hypercalciuria and hypercalcemia.
The main symptoms: constipation, vomiting, nausea, decreased appetite, thirst, polyuria, muscle weakness, dizziness, headache, fainting, coma, bone pain, fatigue, nephrocalcinosis, mental disorders, urolithiasis, abdominal pain; in severe cases, cardiac arrhythmias; with prolonged use of calcium in doses of more than 2500 mg - calcification of soft tissues, kidney damage.
Therapy: when the first signs of an overdose appear, a reduction in the dose of the drug or its temporary cancellation is required. In case of accidental overdose, induce vomiting, rinse the stomach. If necessary, symptomatic therapy is carried out.
For hypercalciuria exceeding 7.5 mmol per day (300 mg per day), the dose of Calcemin Advance should be reduced or treatment canceled. Recommended rehydration, the use of "loop" diuretics (for example, furosemide), glucocorticosteroids, bisphosphonates, calcitonin, in severe cases, hemodialysis is prescribed.
special instructions
You should not exceed the recommended dose of Calcemin Advance in the instructions, since an increased intake of calcium can cause inhibition of the absorption of zinc, iron and other essential minerals in the intestine.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
During pregnancy and lactation, you should consult your doctor before taking Calcemin Advance.
It should be taken into account that the daily dose for pregnant women should not exceed 1500 mg of calcium and 600 IU of vitamin D 3, since an overdose during pregnancy can cause defects in the physical and mental development of the child.
Colecalciferol and its metabolites are excreted in breast milk, which should be taken into account when adding calcium and vitamin D 3 to the child.
Pediatric use
Calcemin Advance is not prescribed for children under 12 years old.
With impaired renal function
- severe renal failure, urolithiasis: use is contraindicated;
- renal failure: therapy can be performed with caution.
Drug interactions

- vitamin A: reducing the toxicity of vitamin D 3;
- laxative agents: reducing the absorption of vitamin D 3;
- barbiturates, phenytoin, glucocorticoids: decrease in the effectiveness of vitamin D 3;
- antibacterial drugs of the tetracycline group: violation of their absorption (the interval between taking these drugs should be at least 3 hours);
- glucocorticoids, levothyroxine, hormonal contraceptives for systemic use: decreased absorption of calcium ions;
- cardiac glycosides: an increase in their toxicity (monitoring of the clinical condition and ECG is required);
- bisphosphonates and sodium fluoride: violation of their absorption (the interval between taking these drugs should be at least 2 hours);
