Extra pounds do not appear due to the use of the potatoes themselves, it's all about the additives to it - butter, meat gravies, various sauces, which are usually generously seasoned with potatoes.

Young potato tubers have the least calories, and they are the richest in nutrients: vitamins of groups B, C, vitamin PP, provitamin A, as well as minerals (potassium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus) and amino acids. As it grows and is stored, starch accumulates in the tubers, and the vitamin content decreases. In this regard, it is recommended to apply this diet from early summer to autumn, when young potatoes are available, and choose tubers with yellow flesh - they have more carotene.

During a potato diet, you should drink at least 2 liters of clean, still water per day.

The potato diet allows you to get rid of 3-4 kg per week.

The advantage is the ability of potatoes to cleanse the intestines of harmful substances and normalize digestive functions. Baked potatoes improve cardiovascular health due to their high potassium content.

With a potato diet, efficiency does not decrease, there is no loss of strength, deterioration of mood and other unpleasant consequences of restricting the diet, which are often the case with other diets. There is no agonizing feeling of hunger with her either.

Disadvantages and contraindications of the potato diet

The main disadvantage of the potato diet is an unbalanced diet. This is especially true for the 3- and 5-day diet options, which essentially include 1-3 foods. Therefore, it is not recommended to exceed the indicated diet duration.

The diet is contraindicated for those who suffer from diabetes.

What foods are allowed?

In the diet of the 3-day potato diet:

  • potatoes;
  • eggs;
  • vegetable oil;
  • lemon juice.

On a 5-day diet, potatoes and herbs (dill, parsley, green onions) are allowed. Occasionally, a thin slice of bread, greased with butter, is allowed for breakfast, and some fresh vegetables for lunch. However, this should only be done when there is a risk of failure.

On a 7-day potato diet, you are allowed:

  • potatoes;
  • lean beef and chicken;
  • milk, kefir, low-fat sour cream and cheese;
  • fresh vegetables, mushrooms;
  • rice, beans;
  • wheat flour for pancakes and dumplings.

With any diet option, you must drink at least 1.5 liters of water per day, it is allowed to drink green tea and herbal teas.

Small amounts of salt are acceptable.

Menu for 1 day of the 3-day potato diet:

Breakfast 200 ml of milk. Dinner 300 g mashed potatoes. Dinner 250 g of salad of boiled potatoes and hard eggs, seasoned with a teaspoon of vegetable oil and lemon juice.

The daily menu of the 5-Day Potato Diet consists of 1 kg of jacket-boiled potatoes. It should be divided into 5-6 meals and consumed with leafy herbs (dill, parsley, green onions).

7-day potato diet menu: there are no dinners, but in case of a strong feeling of hunger, you are allowed to drink a glass of kefir in the evening.

First day

Breakfast: mashed potatoes, seasoned with milk and butter.

Lunch: beef soup with potato dumplings.

Second day

Breakfast: potato casserole with vegetables.

Lunch: chicken broth, potato salad, seasoned with vegetable oil.

The third day

Fourth day
