Melanoma
Melanoma (melanomal, Greek melas, melanos - black, dark + ōma - ending in the name of tumors; synonyms: malignant melanoma - not recommended, melanocarcinoma, melanoblastoma, melanosarcoma, melanocytoma, melanocytoblastoma, chromatophoroma, malignant cell tumors) that produce melanin.
Types of melanoma:
- amelanotic (amelanoticum; synonym: pigmented melanoma) - in the cells of which there is no melanin;
- spindle cell (fusicellulare) - the cells of which have a fusiform shape;
- eyes (oculi) - formed from the pigment cells of the choroid of the eye;
- planar eyes (oculi planare) - growing, in most cases in the plane of the choroid;
- nodular eyes (oculi nodulare) - arising in the form of a node in the choroid, which grows into the vitreous through the retina;
- iridociliary (iridociliare) - melanoma of the eye, spreading from the border sections of the ciliary body and iris;
- skin (cutis) - in the form of an ulcer, papilloma or a node, usually occurring on open areas of the skin;
- mixed cell (mixtocellulare) - including cells of a polygonal epithelium-like and elongated fusiform shape;
- epithelium-like (epithelioideum) - in which the cells are round or polygonal;
- youthful (juvenile; synonym: juvenile melanoma) - characterized by the presence of large cells with acidophilic cytoplasm and large nuclei in the form of vesicles; characterized by a more benign course, observed more often in adolescence.
