Glucosuria

Glucosuria (Glucosuria; Greek glykys - sweet + Greek uron - urine) - the presence of glucose in the urine.

Types of glucosuria:

  • alimentary (alimentaria) - arising after a significant intake of carbohydrates from food;
  • newborns (neonatorum; synonym: diabetes mellitus transient newborns) - transient glycosuria and hyperglycemia noted in newborns caused by intracranial birth trauma, birth stress, infectious toxicosis or other factors that have no connection with damage to the pancreas;
  • renal (renalis; synonym: renal glucosuria) - caused by impaired reabsorption in the renal tubules of glucose from primary urine; it is noted in Lightwood-Albright syndrome, renal diabetes, etc.;
  • reflex (reflectoria; synonyms: central glucosuria, nervous glucosuria) - developing with increased glyconeogenesis and glycolysis, as a result of toxic, chemical or mechanical irritation of the central nervous system; observed in brain tumors, infectious diseases, injuries, etc.
