Release form and composition

Otrivin Baby dosage forms:

• nasal spray (20 ml in vials, in a cardboard box 1 bottle);
• nasal drops (5 ml in a dropper bottle, in a cardboard box of 18 dropper bottles).

1 ml of spray contains:

• active substance: natural sea salt - 10.5 mg;
• auxiliary component: purified water.

1 dropper bottle with drops contains:

• active substance: sodium chloride - 0.74%;
• auxiliary components: Cremophor RH40 (macrogol glyceryl ricinoleate), sodium hydrogen phosphate, purified water, sodium phosphate.

Pharmacological properties

Otrivin Baby spray and drops are designed to care for the nasal mucosa. Nasal drops are sterile isotonic sodium chloride solution with an acidity level close to the secretory fluid of the nasal mucosa.

Irrigation of the nasal cavity with the drug can be carried out for the purpose of daily hygiene, prevention and treatment of colds, accompanied by dryness, irritation or nasal congestion.

The mechanism of action of the drug is aimed at maintaining the normal physiological state of the nasal mucosa.

Moisturizing the nasal cavity, the drug promotes thinning and easy removal of mucus. Daily use of Otrivin Baby increases the resistance of the nasal mucosa to the effects of pathogenic bacteria and viruses, in case of allergic rhinitis, it helps to cleanse it of allergens.

Indications for use

The use of Otrivin Baby is indicated for hygienic irrigation of the nasal cavity in children under the age of 1 year and older with the following conditions and pathologies:

• daily hygiene in order to maintain the protective functions of the mucous membrane in case of increased dryness or air pollution, including central heating and air conditioning;
• allergic rhinitis;
• chronic and acute forms of colds of the nose, paranasal sinuses and nasopharynx;
• prevention of infections of the nose and nasopharynx;
• prevention of inflammatory processes after nasal surgery.

Contraindications

You can not use Otrivin Baby with individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Instructions for use of Otrivin Baby: method and dosage

Otrivin Baby spray and drops are intended for intranasal administration after preliminary clearing of the nasal cavity from mucus (if any).

The nasal spray can be administered in any position of the patient. Having opened the bottle, the first test spraying should be done until a uniform jet appears. Then, placing the tip vertically in the nasal opening, press on its base. For the second nasal passage, repeat the procedure in the same way. The handpiece must be washed and dried after each use. Close the bottle with a protective cap. One bottle can only be used for one patient.

When using Otrivin Baby nasal drops, it is necessary to separate 1 dropper bottle from the rest. To open it, turn the cover clockwise. To rinse the nose of a young child, it should be put, turning his head to one side, and gradually introduce into the nasal passage a sufficient amount of the drug for thorough cleaning.
