Nazivin sensitive is a vasoconstrictor drug for topical use in otolaryngology.

Release form and composition

Dosage form of Nazivin sensitive:

  • nasal drops 0.01%: clear or almost transparent liquid from yellowish to colorless (5 ml in vials, 1 vial in a cardboard box);
  • dosed nasal spray: clear or almost transparent liquid from yellowish to colorless (10 ml in vials, 1 vial in a cardboard box).

Composition of 1 ml drops:

  • active substance: oxymetazoline hydrochloride - 100 μg;
  • auxiliary components: citric acid monohydrate, sodium citrate dihydrate, glycerol 85%, purified water.

Composition of 1 ml dosed nasal spray:

  • active substance: oxymetazoline hydrochloride - 250 or 500 mcg;
  • auxiliary components: citric acid monohydrate, sodium citrate dihydrate, glycerol 85%, purified water.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

When applied topically, Nazivin reduces nasal discharge and swelling of the nasal mucosa, facilitating nasal breathing. Reduces the likelihood of bacterial complications such as sinusitis, sinusitis, otitis media by restoring aeration of the nasal cavity, and its paranasal sinuses, as well as the middle ear cavity. When used according to the recommendations, oxymetazoline does not irritate and does not lead to hyperemia of the nasal mucosa, and also does not have a systemic effect. The effect of the drug occurs within a few minutes after its application, and lasts up to 12 hours.

Pharmacokinetics

The half-life of the drug when applied topically is 35 hours. 2.1% is excreted in the urine, 1.1% of the dose in the feces.

Indications for use

  • colds and acute respiratory viral diseases (ARVI) of the upper respiratory tract, accompanied by rhinitis; vasomotor rhinitis in the acute stage; acute allergic rhinitis - to facilitate nasal breathing;
  • eustachitis, sinusitis, otitis media - to facilitate the outflow of discharge from the paranasal sinuses;
  • diagnostics of the sinuses - to eliminate edema before manipulations.

Contraindications

Absolute contraindications:

  • angle-closure glaucoma;
  • atrophic rhinitis;
  • age up to 1 year (for a spray 11.25 mcg / dose), up to 6 years (for a spray 22.5 mcg / dose);
  • increased sensitivity to the components of the drug.

Relative contraindications:

  • increased intraocular pressure;
  • chronic heart failure;
  • arterial hypertension;
  • angina pectoris;
  • arrhythmia;
  • chronic renal failure;
  • hyperplasia of the prostate with urinary retention;
  • severe atherosclerosis;
  • hyperthyroidism;
  • diabetes;
  • pheochromocytoma;
  • therapy with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors within the previous 2 weeks, as well as within 2 weeks after their cancellation;
  • taking tricyclic antidepressants, bromocriptine.

Instructions for use of Nazivin sensitive: method and dosage

Nazivin sensitive is used intranasally in each nasal passage.

Use Nazivin Sensitive without a doctor's prescription for no longer than 5-7 days. When the condition does not improve or symptoms worsen within 3 days of using the drug, it is advisable to consult a doctor. A repeated course of therapy is possible only after a few days.

Exceeding the dose of the drug is not allowed without the recommendation of a medical specialist.

Nasal drops

In the form of drops, Nazivin sensitive is used for children under the age of 1 year.

Recommended dosage:

  • children under 4 weeks: 1 drop 2-3 times a day;
  • children from 5 weeks of age: 1-2 drops 2-3 times a day.

It is also allowed to treat the nasal cavity with cotton turundas soaked in solution.

The drug is instilled with the child's head thrown back. It is recommended to turn the bottle over before use.

Dosed nasal spray

Recommended dosage:

  • children 1-6 years old: 1 spray of 11.25 mcg / dose 2-3 times a day;
  • children over 6 years old and adults: 1 injection of spray 22.5 mcg / dose 2-3 times a day.

Side effects

  • local reactions: dryness and burning of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, sneezing, severe nasal congestion that occurs after the effect of the drug has passed, visual impairment (if it gets into the eyes). With prolonged therapy, tachyphylaxis, atrophy of the nasal mucosa, medication rhinitis are possible;
  • cardiovascular system: increased blood pressure (BP), tachycardia, palpitations;
  • nervous system: insomnia, headache, dizziness, irritability, anxiety, sleep disturbance (in children);
  • other: nausea, exanthema.

Overdose

Overdose symptoms of Nazivin sensitive: nausea, increased blood pressure, depression of the central nervous system (CNS), tachycardia.

Symptomatic therapy is recommended.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms

  • tricyclic antidepressants, MAO inhibitors (including within 2 weeks after their cancellation and 2 weeks before their appointment), other drugs that increase blood pressure: the risk of a pronounced increase in blood pressure.
