Vibrion (s):
- [Vibrio, Ber - Bergey's manual of determinative bacteriology] - a genus of microorganisms belonging to the Vibrionaceae family, including gram-negative movable rods, straight or curved in the form of a comma, equipped with one or two polarly placed flagella; usually growing on the surfaces of liquid culture media; cholera pathogens belong to vibrios;
- (French vibrion, from Latin vibro - wriggle) - a mobile microorganism, curved in the form of a comma.

- Mechnikov (Metschnikovii; synonym: Mechnikova vibrio) microorganism of the genus Vibrio, similar to cholera vibrio, pathogenic for pigeons and chickens;
- Cholerae (cholerae) - a species of microorganisms of the genus Vibrio, differentiates from other vibrios by the presence of the somatic antigen OI; is the causative agent of cholera;
- Cholera-like (synonym: non-agglutinating) - a type of saprophytic vibrios similar in cultural, some biochemical, and morphological properties to cholera vibrios, having a common H-antigen with it, but not agglutinating O-sera;
- El Tor (Vibrio cholerae var. El Tor) is a biovar of Vibrio cholerae, characterized by resistance to polymyxin B and group IV phage, initiating hemolysis on blood media; is the causative agent of the seventh cholera pandemic.
