Release form and composition
Dosage form - gel for external use: transparent, uniform, yellow or yellow-green (40 g of gel in an aluminum tube, 1 tube in a cardboard box).
Composition for 100 g of gel:
- active substance: troxerutin - 2 g;
- auxiliary components: carbomer, trolamine, disodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
The active component of Troxerutin Vetprom gel is troxerutin, a bioflavonoid with venotonic and angioprotective action. Reduces capillary fragility and permeability, increases their tone, strengthens vascular walls, enhances microcirculation and has an anti-edema effect. In addition, it reduces the exudation of the liquid part of the plasma, as well as diapedesis of blood cells. It takes part in redox processes, blocks hyaluronidase and stabilizes the hyaluronic acid of the cell membranes.
Under the influence of troxerutin in the vascular wall, inflammation is reduced, adhesion of platelets to its surface is limited.
Pharmacokinetics
When the gel is applied topically, its active substance quickly penetrates the epidermis. Within 30 minutes it is found in the dermis, after 2–5 hours in the subcutaneous fat.
Indications for use
- pain and swelling caused by chronic venous insufficiency;
- swelling of the ankles, feeling of heaviness and pain in the legs;
- feeling of tiredness, swelling, paresthesia, convulsions;
- acute superficial periphlebitis and thrombophlebitis;
- varicose dermatitis;
- pain and swelling associated with trauma (ligament damage, sprains, bruises).
Contraindications
- violation of the integrity of the skin;
- I trimester of pregnancy;
- increased sensitivity to the components of the drug.
Instructions for the use of Troxerutin Vetprom: method and dosage
Gel Troxerutin Vetprom is applied externally, in the morning and in the evening (the interval between application should be at least 10-12 hours). With light massaging movements, it is applied to the affected area from bottom to top until completely absorbed. If necessary, it is allowed to use the gel under bandages and elastic stockings.
The course of treatment is 2–8 weeks. Repeated courses are allowed 2-3 times a year.
Side effects
According to the instructions, Troxerutin Vetprom can cause redness, itching, rash, which disappear after the drug is discontinued.
Overdose
With topical application of the gel, there is no danger of overdose.
In case of unintentional swallowing of a large amount of gel, it is recommended to rinse the mouth and stomach, as well as symptomatic treatment.

Avoid contact of the gel on mucous membranes, in the eyes and on damaged skin areas. In conditions causing increased vascular permeability, it is recommended to use Troxerutin Vetprom as part of a combination therapy with ascorbic acid.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms
There is no information on the effect of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles and other complex mechanisms that require the speed of psychomotor reactions.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
There is no evidence of adverse effects on the fetus and newborn. The use of the drug is allowed in the II and III trimesters of pregnancy, as well as during lactation.
