Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Kipferon is a preparation containing human recombinant interferon alpha-2 and a complex of immunoglobulins.

The pharmacological characteristics of Kipferon are determined by the properties of its constituent components:

  • Interferon alpha-2: activator of innate / acquired immunity with pronounced antiviral activity, increases resistance to chlamydial, mycoplasma, viral and bacterial infections; due to its immunomodulatory effect during immunological reactions, it promotes the growth and preservation of intestinal and vaginal normal flora. The biological activity of interferon alpha-2 is realized by its interaction with the receptor apparatus of immunocompetent and other cells, leading to an increase in the expression of HLAI and HLAII molecules on the surface of all types of cells, and regulation of cell cooperation, an increase in the activity of natural killer cells, as well as imparting resistance to cytolytic cells to intact cells. action, proliferation of CD8 T cells. Interferon alpha-2 increases the production of interferon gamma by natural killers;
  • KIP (complex immunoglobulin preparation): contains specific and non-specific immunoglobulins of classes A, G and M, (IgA, IgG and IgM). The combination of antiviral, antibacterial, antitoxic and antichlamydia antibodies belonging to different classes of immunoglobulins provides agglutination, neutralization and precipitation of etiotropic pathogenic agents. At the site of application, it stabilizes interferon from secretions of the mucous membranes, normalizes local immunity due to the intake of IgA and IgM with suppositories (replacement effect), increases the activity of locally formed cytokines.

Instructions for the use of Kipferon: method and dosage

Suppositories Kipferon are administered intravaginally (before contact with the posterior fornix of the vagina and cervix) or rectally, 1-2 pcs. 1-2 times a day.

Kipferon can be used as the only etiopathogenetic treatment (without antibiotics) against the background of generally accepted basic therapy, including dosed therapeutic nutrition, oral rehydration and, if necessary, infusion therapy. In severe cases of the disease, it is advisable to include antibacterial agents in the complex of therapy.

The duration of treatment is on average 10 days. With erosion of the cervix, therapy is continued until the epithelialization of the erosion. If necessary, repeat the course.

Before intravaginal administration of the suppository, mucus should be removed from the mucous membrane of the vagina and cervix using a tampon. It is recommended to start treatment in the first days after the end of menstruation.

The use of Kipferon for chlamydial infections:

  • Children: 1 suppository per day for 10 days. In girls with erased clinical forms of chlamydial vulvovaginitis without respiratory chlamydia, chlamydial urinary tract infection and clinical manifestations of the inflammatory process of the uterus and its appendages, treatment is carried out in combination with vaginal and oral eubiotics, in other cases Kipferon is combined with antibiotics and eubiotics;
  • Adults: 2-4 suppositories per day, divided into 2 doses, for 10-14 days. The drug is used in combination with antibiotics, vaginal and oral administration of eubiotics. If, after the end of therapy, infection with chlamydia or clinical signs of chlamydia persist, a second course of treatment is prescribed.

For viral hepatitis A, B and C in children, Kipferon is used rectally. Recommended doses depending on the age of the child:

  • Over 12 years old: 4 suppositories per day;
  • 8-11 years old: 3 suppositories per day;
  • Up to 7 years: 500 thousand IU / kg in 2 applications, but not more than 2 suppositories per day.

The duration of treatment in the acute course of the disease is 14 days. The first 7 days the drug should be used daily, then 2 times a week. With a protracted course of hepatitis, the duration of treatment can be increased to 3-4 weeks.

Recommended doses for genital herpes:

  • Adults: 2-4 suppositories per day for 10-14 days, if necessary, repeat the course of treatment;
  • Children: 1 suppository 1 time per day for 10 days.

In case of concomitant bacterial infection, antibiotics are additionally prescribed. For women and adolescent girls, it is recommended to start treatment in the first days after the end of menstruation.

With frequent inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, pneumonia and recurrent bronchitis in children, Kipferon is used rectally 1 suppository 2 times a day during the first 5 days of treatment, during the next 3 weeks - 2 times a week. If necessary, the drug can be used as part of basic antibacterial therapy.

For intestinal infections, Kipferon is prescribed for children to be used rectally. The suppository should be administered after a natural act of defecation or a cleansing enema. Recommended doses depending on the age of the child:

  • Up to 12 years: in a single dose of 50 thousand IU / kg, but not more than 1 million IU (2 suppositories) per day;
  • Over 12 years: up to 2 million IU (4 suppositories) per day.

It is recommended to start treatment in the first 3 days after the onset of symptoms of the disease, i.e. in the acute period. The duration of treatment for viral diarrhea is 3-5 days, in severe cases, the course is increased to 7 days.

In preparation for planned gynecological and other operations, Kipferon is applied rectally 1 suppository 2 times a day (with an interval of 12 hours) for 3-5 days before the operation, during and in the postoperative period. The general course of preventive treatment is 10-15 days.

Reviews about Kipferon

Patient opinions are diametrically divided in drug discussions. Kipferon, according to most of them, is an effective, convenient to use, fast-acting agent in the complex treatment of acute respiratory viral diseases (ARI), influenza, tonsillitis, intestinal infections in children (salmonellosis, dysentery, coli infections), various diseases of female genitals. Due to the dosage form, the drug is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream. Many parents consider the possibility of their use in children from birth a great advantage of Kipferon suppositories.

But a number of patients believe that antiviral therapy is ineffective, literally: “In general, these suppositories are more likely to be considered psychotherapeutic agents for parents, according to the principle“well, you have to do something”. It is not possible to trace an obvious effect from them”.

Patients agree on the cost of the drug, which everyone considers high.
