Desal is an antiallergic drug, a blocker of histamine H 1 receptors.
Release form and composition
Dosage forms:
- film-coated tablets: round, biconvex, blue, engraved with "LT" on one side (10 pcs. in a blister, 1, 2 or 3 blisters in a cardboard box);
- oral solution: transparent, free from foreign particles liquid, colorless (50 ml, 60 ml, 100 ml, 120 ml, 150 ml or 300 ml each in a dark glass bottle, in a cardboard box 1 bottle complete with a syringe) with a 5 ml dispenser or a 2.5 ml or 5 ml measuring spoon).
1 tablet contains:
- active substance: desloratadine - 5 mg;
- auxiliary components: mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, pregelatinized corn starch, talc;
- shell composition: opadry blue 03F20404 [titanium dioxide (E171), hypromellose 6cP, indigo carmine aluminum varnish (E132), macrogol 6000].
1 ml of solution contains:
- active substance: desloratadine - 0.5 mg;
- auxiliary components: sorbitol, citric acid monohydrate, hypromellose 2910, propylene glycol, sodium citrate dihydrate, disodium edetate, tutti-frutti flavor, sucralose.
Indications for use
Desal's use is indicated to eliminate symptoms or relieve them with urticaria (itching, rash) and allergic rhinitis, accompanied by sneezing, itching in the nose, nasal congestion, itchy palate, rhinorrhea, watery eyes, itching and redness of the eyes.
Contraindications
- period of pregnancy;
- breast-feeding;
- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Age restrictions:
- tablets: children under 12 years old;
- solution: children under 1 year old.
In addition, the use of the solution is contraindicated in case of glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, fructose intolerance, sucrase or isomaltase deficiency in the body.
Desal should be used with caution in patients with severe renal impairment.
Method of administration and dosage
Pills
The tablets are taken orally.
Recommended dosage: 1 pc. 1 time per day, regardless of food intake.
Solution
The solution is intended for oral administration, once a day, regardless of food intake.
Dosing has age restrictions:
- patients over 12 years old: 10 ml each;
- children aged 6-11 years: 5 ml;
- children aged 1–5 years: 2.5 ml.
Side effects
- on the part of the cardiovascular system: very rarely - a feeling of palpitations, tachycardia;
- mental disorders: very rarely - hallucinations;
- from the digestive system: more often than usual in adult patients - dryness of the oral mucosa; more often than usual in children under 2 years of age - diarrhea; very rarely - dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain;
- from the liver and biliary tract: very rarely - an increase in the activity of liver enzymes, hepatitis, an increase in the level of bilirubin concentration;
- from the central nervous system: more often than usual in adult patients - increased fatigue, headache; more often than usual in children under 2 years old - insomnia; very rarely - dizziness, drowsiness, psychomotor hyperactivity;
- allergic reactions: very rarely - itching, rash, anaphylaxis, urticaria, angioedema;
- from the musculoskeletal system: very rarely - myalgia.
In addition, against the background of the use of the solution in children under the age of 2 years, an increase in body temperature is possible.
special instructions
The use of Desal for the treatment of allergic rhinitis in children under 2 years of age should be started after excluding the presence of rhinitis in the child, accompanied by foci of infection, any deviations in the structure of the upper respiratory tract. Establishing an accurate diagnosis is carried out on the basis of a thorough history collection, appropriate examination and laboratory tests, skin tests.
Since the effect of the drug in some cases can cause drowsiness, during the period of treatment, care should be taken to control various mechanisms or vehicles.
Drug interactions
With the simultaneous use of Desal:
- ketoconazole, erythromycin and other drugs do not cause clinically significant interactions;
- ethanol does not increase its effect on the central nervous system.
