Release form and composition
The drug is produced in the following dosage forms:
- oil for oral administration, local and external use: an orange-red oily liquid with a characteristic odor, there may be a slight sediment that disappears when heated to 40 ° C (30, 50 or 100 ml in a dark glass bottle, 50 or 100 ml in a bottle of brown polyethylene terephthalate; in a cardboard box 1 bottle; 25, 30, 40, 60, 70, 80 ml in a bottle, in a cardboard box 1 bottle; 30-40 kg in a metal flask);
- capsules: spherical, gelatinous, cherry-colored; the contents of the capsules are an oily liquid of orange-red color with a specific taste and smell of sea buckthorn fruits (10 pcs. in a blister strip, 1-5 packs in a cardboard box; 100 pcs. in a plastic can, 1 can in a cardboard box);
- rectal suppositories: torpedo-shaped, from dark orange to orange (5 pcs. in a contoured cell pack, 2 packs in a cardboard box).
Composition of sea buckthorn oil for oral administration, local and external use: sea buckthorn fruit oil - carotenoids not less than 180% (includes: sterols, tocopherols, polyunsaturated fatty acids - linoleic, palmitoleic, oleic, linolenic, palmitic).
Composition of 1 capsule: sea buckthorn oil - 200 or 300 mg (carotenoids not less than 180 mg%; a complex of biologically active substances contained in sea buckthorn fruits: sterols, tocopherols, polyunsaturated fatty acids).
Composition of 1 suppository:
- active substance: sea buckthorn fruit oil (sea buckthorn oil concentrate) - 500 mg (concentrate, pre-diluted with sunflower oil to the amount of carotenoids in terms of β-carotene - 240 mg%);
- additional components: bogalhydroxytoluene (cibunol), butylhydroxyanisole (butyloxyanisole), solid fat (witepsol, supposir), glyceryl monostearate (glycerin monostearate).

Pharmacodynamics
The drug activates the course of reparative processes with lesions of the mucous membranes and skin of various etiologies, including ulcers, burns, radiation and wounds. It has general tonic and anti-inflammatory properties, demonstrates antioxidant and cytoprotective effect. The tool reduces the intensity of biochemical reactions involving free radicals, prevents damage to cell and subcellular membranes, and helps to lower cholesterol and lipids in the blood.
The pharmacological action is due to the presence of tocopherols (vitamin E), carotene (provitamin A) and other lipophilic substances in the sea buckthorn oil.

Indications for use
Oil for oral, topical and external use
According to the instructions, Sea buckthorn oil is recommended for use as a wound healing agent as part of a combination therapy for lesions of the skin and mucous membranes:
- otorhinolaryngology - postoperative wounds (in order to accelerate healing);
- dentistry - erosive and ulcerative lesions of the periodontium and oral mucosa in acute and chronic form;
- gastroenterology - peptic ulcer and 12 duodenal ulcer;
- gynecology - cervical erosion, endocervicitis, colpitis;
- surgery - wound damage to the skin, radiation injuries, burns (in order to stimulate reparative processes);
- proctology - external hemorrhoids, rectal fissures.
Capsules
Capsules are recommended for use as a means of activating reparative processes in the following diseases / conditions:
- hyperacid gastritis;
- peptic ulcer and 12 duodenal ulcer;
- conditions after surgical interventions in the gastrointestinal tract.
Rectal suppositories

Contraindications

Instructions for the use of Sea buckthorn oil: method and dosage
Sea buckthorn oil is used orally, rectally, topically and externally.
The recommended dosage regimen depending on the method of administration of the agent and indications:
- outwardly: in case of skin lesions, the drug is used in the form of oil dressings - the surface of the affected skin area cleaned of necrotic masses is treated with sea buckthorn oil, and then a cotton-gauze bandage is applied, which must be changed every other day; the drug is used before the appearance of granulations;
- orally: for ulcerative lesions of the stomach and duodenal ulcer, take 2–3 times a day, 1 teaspoon of oil, the course is 21–28 days; capsules are taken in 6-8 pieces. (1.2-2.4 g) 2 times a day, course - 10-14 days;
- topically: with cracks in the rectum, external hemorrhoids, erosion of the cervix, colpitis, endocervicitis, the problem areas are lubricated with sea buckthorn oil or tampons abundantly soaked in the agent are applied to them; the course of therapy for colpitis is 10-15 procedures, for cervical erosion, endocervicitis - 8-12 procedures, for rectal fissures, external hemorrhoids - 5-7 procedures; for erosive and ulcerative lesions of the periodontal and oral mucosa, the drug is used in the form of applications or moistened with oil turunda, course - 10-15 procedures;
- rectally: 1 suppository is injected deep into the anus after bowel movement, adolescents over 14 years old and adults - 2 times a day, children from 6 to 14 years old - 1–2 times a day, children under 6 years old - 1 time a day; course - 10-15 days; if necessary, after 4-6 weeks after the completion of the first course, a second one is possible.
In otorhinolaryngology, when tympanoplasty is performed after treating the wound surface with hydrocortisone or antibiotics, tampons, abundantly moistened with sea buckthorn oil, are applied to it. The course of therapy is 7-10 procedures.
Side effects
Allergic reactions may occur with the use of the drug. Also, when taken orally, the drug may cause diarrhea, bitterness in the mouth, biliary colic; with external and local application - a burning sensation at the site of contact with the drug; with rectal administration - burning sensation in the anus.
