Xeroform
Xeroform

Xeroform is a medicinal product with astringent, antiseptic and drying properties, which is used for diseases of the skin and mucous membranes.

Xeroform powder is a bismuth salt, has a yellow color and a weak peculiar smell. This drug is practically insoluble in water, ether, alcohol and chloroform.

The disinfecting effect of Xeroform is due to the ability of the drug to have a bactericidal effect on microorganisms by binding to proteins of their cell membranes, which leads to the death of a microbial cell.

The use of Xeroform allows you to accelerate the healing and regeneration of the affected tissues. The drug is low-toxic, does not irritate mucous membranes and wounds.

The widespread use of Xeroforms in medical practice is due to the drug's ability to dry out wounds, narrow blood vessels, reduce exudation (release of the liquid part of the blood during inflammation), weaken the inflammatory process, reduce sensitivity, and cause the death of pathogenic bacteria.

Xeroform is part of the suppositories for hemorrhoids "Anuzol" and Vishnevsky's ointment.

Indications for use

The instruction recommends using Xeroform for purulent wounds, burns, ulcers, eczema, diaper rash, infected, weeping and postoperative wounds, as well as for scaring off blood-sucking insects.

For newborns, Xeroform powder can be prescribed to accelerate the healing of the umbilical wound, and the drug is also effective in the treatment of diaper dermatitis.
