Composition of 1 tablet:

  • active substance: desloratadine - 5 mg;

  • shell: dry mixture for film coating (aluminum varnish based on indigo carmine dye - 2.8%; yellow iron oxide - 0.1%; polyvinyl alcohol - 40%; polyethylene glycol 3350 - 20.2%; titanium dioxide - 22.1%; talc - 14.8%) - 3 mg.

Indications for use

  • allergic rhinitis: for the purpose of eliminating / relieving nasal congestion, watery eyes, sneezing, nasal mucus, itchy palate, itchy nose, redness and itching of the eyes;
  • urticaria: to reduce / eliminate rashes and itching.

Contraindications

  • age up to 12 years;
  • pregnancy and lactation period (information confirming the safety / efficacy of Desloratadine in this group of patients is absent);
  • the presence of individual intolerance to the components of the drug, including hypersensitivity to loratadine.

Desloratadine is prescribed with caution in patients with severe renal failure.

Method of administration and dosage

Desloratadine is taken orally. The tablet should be swallowed whole, without chewing, with a little water.

The drug is recommended to be taken at the same time of the day, regardless of the time of the meal.

Teenagers from 12 years old and adults are usually prescribed 1 time per day for 5 mg (1 tablet). The duration of the course is determined by the duration of the symptoms.

Recommended dosage regimen:

  • seasonal (intermittent) allergic rhinitis (if symptoms last less than 4 days a week, or their total duration is less than 4 weeks a year) and urticaria: the duration of the drug is determined by the course of the disease; therapy after the disappearance of symptoms must be discontinued, in cases of their reappearance, the administration of Desloratadine is resumed;
  • perennial (persistent) allergic rhinitis (if symptoms last less than 4 days a week, or their total duration is less than 4 weeks a year): therapy can be continued during the period of exposure to allergens.

Side effects

  • digestive system: infrequently - dry mouth; very rarely - hepatitis, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, dyspepsia, vomiting;
  • cardiovascular system: very rarely - tachycardia, palpitations;
  • laboratory indicators: very rarely - an increase in the concentration of bilirubin and the activity of hepatic enzymes;
  • others: often - increased fatigue; very rarely - dysmenorrhea, pharyngitis.
