Calcium pantothenate is the calcium salt of pantothenic acid. Coenzyme A, which contains pantothenic acid, takes part in oxidation and acetylation processes. Pantothenic acid is essential for the synthesis of acetylcholine, it also participates in fat and carbohydrate metabolism.
It is found in large quantities in the adrenal cortex, stimulating the formation of corticosteroids. Pantothenic acid improves regeneration processes and energy supply of myocardial contraction, and also activates metabolic processes in tissues.
Pharmacokinetics
When taken orally, Calcium Pantothenate is readily absorbed in the intestines. Upon splitting, pantothenic acid is released. Approximately 60% of the drug is excreted in the urine, some - with feces.
