Release form and composition

Active ingredient: dry extract of marshmallow roots - 20 mg in 1 g of syrup.
Auxiliary components: sodium benzoate, purified water, sucrose.
Indications for use
Althea syrup is a remedy for the treatment of respiratory tract diseases accompanied by cough with difficult sputum, such as bronchitis, tracheitis and tracheobronchitis.
Contraindications
- Sucrase / isomaltose deficiency;
- Glucose-galactose malabsorption;
- Congenital fructose intolerance;
- Pregnancy;
- Lactation;
- Individual hypersensitivity to drug components.
Carefully:
- Diabetes;
- The period of adherence to a diet low in carbohydrates.
Method of administration and dosage
Althea syrup should be taken orally after meals.
- Adults and children over 12 years old: 1 tablespoon diluted in ½ glass of water;
- Children under 12 years old: 1 teaspoon diluted in в glass of warm water.
The frequency of admission is 4-5 times a day.
The duration of treatment is 10-15 days. Questions about increasing the duration of use and the need for repeated courses are resolved with the doctor individually.

Information for patients with diabetes mellitus: 1 tsp. syrup contains about 0.35 bread units (4.2 g of sucrose), 1 tbsp. - 1.4 bread units (16.8 g of sucrose).
The drug does not affect the speed of reactions and the ability to concentrate, therefore it can be prescribed to patients regardless of their area of professional employment.
Drug interactions
Althea syrup should not be used simultaneously with antitussives (including drugs containing codeine), since this interaction makes it difficult to cough up liquefied sputum.
