A-cerumen is a multifunctional otolaryngological product for washing the ear canal. According to the instructions for A-cerumen, the active ingredients of the drug are TEA-cocoyl hydrolyzed collagen, cocobetaine and PEG 120-methylglucasadioleate. The active substances of A-cerumen include surfactants, the surface-active action of which helps to dissolve sulfur plugs in the external auditory canal, and also prevents their formation.
Indications for the use of A-cerumen
Positive reviews about A-cerumen confirm the advisability of its use in a number of cases:
- to prevent the accumulation of earwax;
- to dissolve existing sulfur plugs;
- following regular ear hygiene, including after being in dusty places or prolonged contact with water, and when using a hearing aid or telephone headset.
Method of administration of A-cerumen and doses
According to the instructions, A-cerumen is recommended for use by adults and children over 2.5 years old. The temperature of the drug at the time of use should be within the patient's body temperature.
For the prevention of earwax accumulation and regular hygiene, A-cerumen should be used twice a week. It is recommended to use the drug in the morning and in the evening for 3-4 days to wash existing sulfur plugs.
The instructions for A-cerumen indicate the following scheme of use: half of the contents of the vial should be poured into the ear, keeping the head position fixed for one minute after the administration of the drug. After one minute, the head must be tilted so that the remnants of the A-cerumen and the dissolved sulfur plug flow out. The effectiveness of such a cleansing of the ear canal, as evidenced by reviews of A-cerumen, will be increased if at the end of the procedure the ear is rinsed with clean water or 0.9% saline. This scheme of drug administration should be repeated for the other ear.
Side effects
The instructions for A-cerumen do not indicate data on negative reactions to the use of the drug.
Also, no information is provided on the overdose and interaction of A-ceramen with other drugs.
Contraindications
A-cerumen solution is not recommended for use in a number of cases:
- hypersensitivity to the components of A-cerumen;
- perforation of the tympanic membrane;
- acute otitis media of infectious and inflammatory genesis;
- the presence of a shunt in the eardrum or 6-12 months after its removal.
Age less than 2.5 years and soreness of the ear canal require consultation with a doctor about the appropriateness of using this drug.
Additional Information
The shelf life of A-cerumen is 3 years, but the opened bottle should be used within 24 hours. The drug should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 30 0 С, in places to which access of children is prohibited.
