Cucumber diet
A blessed summer abundance of vegetables and fruits is coming, heavenly for those who care about health and shape. One of the first to appear are the long-awaited cucumbers - not the tasteless cucumber-like product that supermarkets offer in winter, but real, fragrant and pimply, crunchy cucumbers on the teeth. Of course, nutritionists could not pass by such a miracle, and created a cucumber diet, and more than one.
Cucumber is just a godsend for diet food, since it has everything you need: fiber, vitamins and water, a very small amount of carbohydrates (3 g per 100 g of cucumbers) and calories - only 14 kcal per 100 g of product. For comparison, the calorie content of apples is 45 kcal per 100 g, 100 g of doctor's sausage contains 257 kcal, and a Snickers bar - 480 kcal per 100 g.
The cucumber diet, of course, is not unique. The principle of all cucumber diets boils down to replacing about half of the foods consumed with cucumbers, and making the remaining half dietary. Why not all? The fact is that cucumber contains very few nutrients, and although it contains vitamins and minerals, their amount is also small.
A cucumber diet consisting solely of cucumbers can be seen as a great opportunity for a fasting day, but there should not be more than two such days a week. Otherwise, such a cucumber diet becomes extreme, and although it contributes to rapid weight loss, it can be harmful to health. In addition, like any extreme diet, it has a significant risk of overeating after its completion, as a result of which all the pounds lost with its help quickly return back, and sometimes even with an increase.
There are a few more important points to consider. First. When deciding to go on a cucumber diet, make sure that the cucumbers for it are grown without the use of harsh chemicals. Since you will be consuming a
lot of cucumbers while following the cucumber diet, this is important, as otherwise the concentration of chemicals in the body may exceed its ability to neutralize them, which can cause poisoning.
The second point is that in order for the cucumber diet to be as effective as possible, cucumbers must be consumed without salt, or with a small amount of it. Cucumbers contain 95% water, and if you consume a lot of them, while generously salting, you can cause fluid retention in the body, which overloads the kidneys and heart, and as a result, swelling of the face, legs and hands will appear.
