Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Due to the high content of carotenoids and tocopherols, Tykveol has a noticeable antioxidant effect, inhibiting the process of peroxidation of lipid components of biological membranes.
The hepatoprotective effect is provided by essential phospholipids, which have membrane-stabilizing properties, slowing down the development of the process of damage to the membranes of hepatocytes and accelerating their recovery.
Essential fatty acids are involved in lipid metabolism, as well as in the regulation of cholesterol and triglyceride metabolism. They are necessary for the normal metabolism of arachidonic acid, the biochemical precursor of prostaglandins.
The drug has a positive effect on the functioning of the biliary tract, changes the chemical composition of bile, providing a mild choleretic effect, and also relieves inflammation in the epithelial tissues of the biliary system.
The drug has antiandrogenic properties, therefore, with benign hyperplasia, there is a possibility of a decrease in cell proliferation in the prostate gland and normalization of its function by improving blood circulation and anti-inflammatory action. This effect reduces the severity of pain in prostatitis.
In the case of prolonged use of the drug, the level of cholesterol in the blood decreases (hypolipidemic effect).
Pharmacokinetics
The effect of Tykveol on the body is due to the joint influence of its constituent components, therefore, it is impossible to conduct kinetic observations of the drug during the period of its presence in the body. For the same reason, there is no information on drug metabolites.
