Pimafukort is a combined topical agent containing the antibiotic neomycin, the antifungal agent natamycin and the glucocorticosteroid hydrocortisone. Such an "elegant" composition of the drug, the ingredients of which complement each other so successfully, makes Pimafukort a very popular drug in dermatological practice.
Release form
Pimafukort is available in two dosage forms:
- Cream, 1 g of which contains 3500 IU of neomycin and 10 mg of natamycin and hydrocortisone. The cream is packaged in aluminum or plastic tubes of 15 or 30 g. For the most distrustful patients who think that insidious pharmacy workers shamelessly use the drugs they sell, the tube is equipped with an aluminum membrane. Together with the tube, the instruction for Pimafukort is enclosed in a cardboard box;
- An ointment that has the same quantitative composition of pharmacologically active components as the cream and exactly the same type of packaging and packaging, including an aluminum membrane on the tube and instructions for Pimafukort.

There are no analogues of Pimafukort, which have absolutely identical qualitative composition, on the Russian market (yes, perhaps, there is no second such drug on a global scale). There are other combination preparations containing glucocorticosteroids, antibiotics and antifungal agents in different combinations. They can also, with a certain assumption, be considered analogs of Pimafukort:

Pimafukort has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and fungicidal (antifungal) effects.
Neomycin is an antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group that acts against a wide range of microorganisms (staphylococci, streptococci, Klebsiella, Escherichia coli, etc.).
The antifungal agent natamycin is active against yeast and related fungal families, among which representatives of the Candida family should be highlighted.
Hydrocortisone is a 100% glucocorticosteroid that has anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictor effects, simultaneously eliminating swelling and itching in the affected area.
Indications for use
In accordance with the instructions for Pimafukort and the reviews of dermatologists about him, this drug has a very specific therapeutic goal: the treatment of dermatoses that respond to glucocorticosteroid therapy in the presence of a secondary fungal or bacterial infection.
Brief instructions for use
The dosage and frequency of treatment with Pimafucort does not vary depending on the patient's age: both adults and children are recommended to apply a cream or ointment to the affected areas of the skin 2-4 times a day. The duration of therapy should not exceed two weeks. Children should use Pimafucort under close medical supervision.
Cream and ointment have slightly different areas of application. So, the cream is used for weeping acute and subacute dermatoses. Ointment, on the other hand, is used in the presence of obvious signs of dry skin for the treatment of subacute and chronic dermatoses.
Contraindications
According to reviews about Pimafukort, this drug has good tolerance, however, given such a "motley" composition, there are contraindications to it:
- individual intolerance to any of the components of the drug;
- cutaneous tuberculosis;
- viral skin lesions;
- open wound surfaces, ulcers, erosion;
- acne;
- rosacea (acne rosacea);
- ichthyosis (genetically determined keratinization disorders).
In children under 1 year of age, as well as in pregnant and lactating women, the drug should be used with extreme caution.
Side effect
Reviews of Pimafukort and a number of undesirable effects noted during clinical trials led to the inclusion of the following side effects in the instructions for Pimafukort:
- allergies (itching, irritation, dry skin);
- contact dermatitis (the drug "owes" this effect to neomycin);
- atrophic skin manifestations (extremely rare).
There is no information on the overdose that happened with Pimafucort in the medical documentation.

You should know that getting Pimafucort on the eyelids or the periocular region can provoke an increase in intraocular pressure, which is fraught with the development of cataracts.
Neomycin is not such a harmless antibiotic, as you can see by reading its instructions for use. In the list of side effects, there is both ototoxicity (effects on the auditory organs) and nephrotoxicity (effects on the kidneys). Consequently, with long-term use of Pimafucort on extensive skin surfaces, in theory, you can get all these unpleasant "bonuses".
If the patient does not have hypersensitivity to neomycin, this is not a reason for complacency: intolerance to other aminoglycosides (gentamicin, kanamycin) also excludes the possibility of using Pimafucort.
