Uro-Vaxom is an immunostimulating agent of bacterial origin.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - capsules: size No. 3, gelatinous solid, with an orange cap and a yellow body; content - powder from light yellow to light brown color (10 pcs. in blisters, 3 blisters in a cardboard box).
Active substance: lyophilized lysate of Escherichia coli bacteria, in 1 capsule - 6 mg.
Additional substances:
- auxiliary components: pregelatinized starch, sodium glutamate (anhydrous), mannitol, propyl gallate (anhydrous), magnesium stearate, mannitol;
- shell: gelatin, titanium dioxide (E171), iron oxide yellow (E172), iron oxide red (E172).
Indications for use
Uro-Vaxom is used for the prevention and complex therapy of recurrences of chronic urinary tract infections of any origin, especially cystitis.
Contraindications
- children under 4 years of age;
- hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.
Method of administration and dosage
Uro-Vaxom is used as part of a comprehensive treatment in combination with antibacterial or other antimicrobial agents.
The capsules should be taken orally once a day, in the morning on an empty stomach. For children who have difficulty swallowing medication, you can open the capsule and mix the contents with a liquid (such as milk or fruit juice).
For medicinal purposes, 1 capsule is prescribed until the symptoms disappear, but not less than 10 days. The maximum duration of the treatment course is 3 months.
For the prevention of relapses, 1 capsule is prescribed for 3 months.
The duration of treatment and the need for repeated courses are determined by the doctor, depending on the clinical situation and the general condition of the patient.
Side effects
Uro-Vaxom is generally well tolerated; the overall incidence of adverse reactions in clinical trials was about 4%.
Classification of side effects depending on the frequency of their development: often - from 1 to 10%, infrequently - from 0.1 to 1%.
Possible adverse reactions:
- digestive system: often - nausea, diarrhea, dyspeptic disorders (including a feeling of discomfort in the epigastric region); infrequently - abdominal pain;
- nervous system: often - headache;
- skin and subcutaneous tissue: infrequently - allergic reactions in the form of itching, rash, severe exanthema;
- others: infrequently - fever, alopecia.
In isolated cases, the following serious complications were recorded: oral cavity edema, peripheral edema.

In animal studies, there was no negative effect on fetal development, pregnancy and postnatal development, however, there is no clinical experience of using the drug for the treatment of pregnant women, therefore, during this period, Uro-Vaxom is not prescribed. Similarly, there is no information about the possibility of using the drug during lactation.
In case of skin reactions, edema or fever (an unexplained increase in body temperature above 38 ° C at the beginning of treatment), the drug should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted, since these phenomena may indicate the development of an allergic reaction.
Uro-Vaxom has no effect on psychomotor and cognitive functions.
Drug interactions
The interaction of Escherichia coli bacterial lysate with other drugs has not yet been established. Immunosuppressive drugs, presumably, can influence the action of Uro-Vaxom.
As a precautionary measure, it is not recommended to prescribe Uro-Vaxom within 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after ingestion of live vaccines.
