Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Troxerutin is an angioprotective drug that acts primarily on veins and capillaries. After its application, the pores between endothelial cells are reduced by modifying the fibrous matrix located between the endothelial cells. The drug has anti-inflammatory properties, inhibits aggregation and increases the degree of deformability of erythrocytes.

Therapy in patients with chronic venous insufficiency is accompanied by a decrease in the severity of pain, edema, trophic disorders, seizures and varicose ulcers, as well as relief of symptoms associated with hemorrhoids (bleeding, itching and pain).

The substance has a beneficial effect on the resistance and permeability of the capillary walls, which leads to a slowdown in the development of diabetic retinopathy. Also, Troxerutin-MIC has an effect on the rheological properties of blood, which helps to prevent microthrombosis of retinal vessels.

Pharmacokinetics

The absorption of troxerutin after oral administration varies in the range from 10 to 15%. On average, after 2 hours after taking the capsules, its maximum concentration (C max) in the blood plasma is reached, the therapeutic level remains in it for 8 hours.

Troxerutin is metabolized in the liver, and 2 metabolites are formed. Excretion is mainly carried out by the kidneys and with bile (unchanged by 11%) within 24 hours.
