Timalin is a drug that restores impaired immunological reactivity, improves the course of cellular metabolism, stimulates the processes of hematopoiesis and regeneration in case of inhibition.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - lyophilisate for preparation of a solution for intramuscular administration: mass in the form of lumps, powder, tablets or plates of white or white with a yellowish tint (in glass vials with a capacity of 5 ml, 5 or 10 vials in a cardboard box complete with an ampoule knife or scarifier and 5 or 10 ampoules of solvent, respectively).
Active ingredient: cattle thymus polypeptides, in 1 bottle - 10 mg.
Inactive ingredient: glycine.
Solvent (2 ml): 0.9% sodium chloride solution.
Indications for use
Timalin is used to treat immunodeficiency conditions, including in the following cases:
- purulent and septic infectious processes;
- persistent dysfunction of the thymus (for example, tumors or surgical removal of the thymus, radiation sickness);
- violation of regenerative processes;
- bacterial and viral infections (acute and chronic);
- oppression of hematopoiesis and immunity after radiation or chemotherapy for oncological diseases.
Contraindications
- children's age up to 6 months;
- pregnancy;
- lactation;
- hypersensitivity to components.
Method of administration and dosage
The solution prepared from the lyophilisate is injected intramuscularly. For this, the contents of the bottle are preliminarily dissolved in 1–2 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution.
Adults are prescribed 5–20 mg / day, for a course - 30–100 mg.
Recommended daily doses for children:
- 7-14 years old - 3-5 mg;
- 4-6 years old - 2-3 mg;
- 1-3 years - 1.5-2 mg;
- 6-12 months - 1 mg.
The duration of treatment is from 3 to 10 days, depending on the severity of the immunodeficiency state.
If necessary, a second course is carried out after 1–6 months.
For prophylactic purposes, Timalin is prescribed in a course of 3-5 days in the following doses: children - 1-5 mg, adults - 5-10 mg.

Drug interactions
The drug combines well with immunostimulating agents, glucocorticosteroids, biostimulants, rifampicin and isoniazid.
