Rankof is a combined drug for eliminating symptoms of ARVI (acute respiratory viral infection), colds or flu, such as pain, high body temperature (fever) and runny nose.

Release form and composition

The drug is available in the form of tablets: pink interspersed with white, dark and light pink, capsule-shaped, biconvex, with beveled edges, with a dividing line on one side (10 pieces in blisters, in a cardboard box 1 blister and instructions for application of Rankoff).

1 tablet contains:

  • active ingredients: paracetamol - 500 mg, caffeine - 30 mg, phenylephrine hydrochloride - 10 mg, chlorphenamine maleate - 2 mg;
  • auxiliary components: corn starch, sodium carboxymethyl starch (type A), povidone K30, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, crimson dye (Ponso 4R), talc.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Rankof is a combined drug for eliminating the symptoms of colds, flu and SARS, which has antipyretic, analgesic, alpha-adrenostimulating, vasoconstrictor and antihistamine effects.

The effect of the drug is due to the properties of its active ingredients:

  • paracetamol: is a non-narcotic analgesic. Acting on the centers of pain and thermoregulation, it blocks cyclooxygenase mainly in the central nervous system (CNS), has an analgesic and antipyretic effect;
  • caffeine: a psychostimulant, activates the psychomotor centers of the brain, potentiates the effect of an analgesic, helps to eliminate drowsiness and fatigue, and to increase physical and mental performance;
  • phenylephrine: an alpha-adrenergic agonist, has a moderate vasoconstrictor effect;
  • chlorphenamine: the presence of chlorphenamine maleate in the preparation - a blocker of H 1 -histamine receptors - provides narrowing of the nasal vessels, eliminates swelling and hyperemia of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, nasopharynx and paranasal sinuses. Helps to reduce exudative manifestations and suppress the symptoms of allergic rhinitis.

Indications for use

The use of Rankof is indicated in the treatment of colds, influenza, ARVI, allergic and infectious rhinitis in order to relieve febrile syndrome, rhinorrhea and pain.

Contraindications

Absolute:

  • increased blood pressure (BP);
  • severe atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries;
  • pheochromocytoma;
  • diabetes;
  • period of pregnancy;
  • lactation;
  • age up to 14 years;
  • hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Rankof tablets should be taken with caution in patients with hepatic and / or renal failure, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, angle-closure glaucoma, congenital hyperbilirubinemia (Gilbert's syndrome, Dubin-Johnson syndrome or Rotor syndrome), prostatic hyperplasia, chronic obstructive diseases bronchitis, pulmonary emphysema), thyrotoxicosis, with concomitant therapy with tricyclic antidepressants, monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors or beta-blockers.

Rankof, instructions for use: method and dosage

The tablets are taken orally.

The recommended dosage of Rankof for children over 14 years old and for adults: 1 pc. every 4-6 hours

The maximum daily dose is 4 pcs.

Side effects

  • from the immune system: allergic reactions (itching, skin rash, urticaria, angioedema);
  • from the gastrointestinal tract: dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain;
  • from the lymphatic system and blood: thrombocytopenia, anemia, agranulocytosis;
  • on the part of the organ of vision: increased intraocular pressure, mydriasis, paresis of accommodation;
  • from the nervous system: dizziness, increased excitability, sleep disturbance, increased blood pressure;
  • others: urinary retention, with prolonged intake of high doses - hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity (renal colic, interstitial nephritis, glucosuria, papillary necrosis), methemoglobinemia, hemolytic or aplastic anemia, pancytopenia.

Overdose

Symptoms of an overdose of the drug are due to the presence of paracetamol in its composition (provided that the latter is taken at a dose of more than 10-15 g): pallor of the skin, decreased appetite, nausea, vomiting, toxic hepatitis (including the development of hepatonecrosis), an increase in the activity of hepatic transaminases and prothrombin time.

Treatment: immediate gastric lavage, the appointment of symptomatic therapy. In 8-9 hours after the overdose, the administration of methionine is indicated, and after 12 hours - N-acetylcysteine.

During the treatment period, it is recommended to analyze the indicators of peripheral blood and the state of liver function.

You can not combine the reception of Rankof with anxiolytic (tranquilizers) and hypnotics, as well as with drugs that contain the active substances that make up its composition.

The simultaneous use of alcohol or ethanol-containing drugs is contraindicated.

  • sedatives, MAO inhibitors, ethanol: enhance their effects;
  • ethanol: helps to increase the sedative effect of the drug;
  • antidepressants, antiparkinsonian drugs, antipsychotics, phenothiazine derivatives: concomitant therapy with the listed agents increases the risk of dry mouth, urinary retention and constipation;
  • glucocorticosteroids: increase the risk of developing glaucoma;
  • uricosuric drugs: reduce their effectiveness;
  • MAO inhibitors, furazolidone: a combination with these drugs can cause agitation, hyperpyrexia, hypertensive crisis;
  • tricyclic antidepressants: the adrenomimetic effect of phenylephrine is enhanced by interaction with tricyclic antidepressants;
  • halothane: the appointment of halothane while taking Rankof may cause the development of ventricular arrhythmias;
  • guanethidine: the hypotensive effect of guanethidine decreases, the activity of phenylephrine increases.
