Lactovit Forte is a combined probiotic drug that helps restore microflora and intestinal mucosa.

Release form and composition

Lactovit Forte is available in the following dosage forms:

• Capsules (30 pcs. In a cardboard box);
• Powder for suspension preparation (in sachets of 4 g, 10 sachets in a cardboard box).

The composition of 1 capsule and a sachet for preparation of a suspension contains the following active ingredients:

• Spores of lactic acid bacteria (Lactic Acid Bacillus) - 120 million;
• Folic acid (vitamin B9) - 1.5 mg;
• Cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) - 0.015 mg.

Pharmacological properties

Lactobacilli live in the human intestine and are representatives of the obligate microflora. They show antagonistic properties with respect to pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms, which is explained by competition for receptors localized on the cells of the intestinal epithelium, as well as the ability to produce specific substances (mainly lactic acid) that inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria. Lactobacilli have a positive effect on the human immune system, enhancing the phagocytic function of leukocytes and promoting the formation of antibodies.

Cyanocobalamin is an inducer of carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism, stimulates erythropoiesis, has a positive effect on the function of the liver and nervous system, and takes part in the biosynthesis of nucleic acids.

Folic acid is an essential element in the biosynthesis of purines, pyrimidines, nucleic acids and amino acids. It participates in the processes of leuko- and erythropoiesis and protects the embryo and fetus from the effects of teratogenic factors.

When injected into the stomach, the capsules of the drug protect the bacteria contained in them from the destructive action of gastric juice for 4 hours. Their dissolution occurs in the duodenum, after which the process of reproduction of beneficial bacteria begins due to the presence of a nutrient medium for them in the preparation.

Indications for use

• Dysbacteriosis, including disorders of normal microflora associated with antibiotic therapy, intestinal infections or other reasons;
• Ulcerative colitis (nonspecific);
• Chronic colitis;
• Diseases of the genital organs of non-specific etiology (inflammatory);
• Atopic dermatitis, urticaria, eczema, diathesis in children (as part of a combination treatment).

Lactovit Forte is also prescribed during the preparation of pregnant women for childbirth in violation of the purity of the vaginal secretion up to 3-4 degrees.

Contraindications

According to the instructions, Lactovit Forte is contraindicated for use in the presence of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, including cyanocobalamin, lactose and folic acid.

Instructions for the use of Laktovit Forte: method and dosage

Lactovit Forte is taken orally, preferably 40 minutes before meals.

Before taking, the contents of one sachet must be dissolved in 50-100 ml of water at room temperature.

Adults are prescribed 2-4 sachets or capsules per day.

Recommended doses of Lactovit Forte for children, depending on age:

The duration of therapy depends on the indications:

• Dysbacteriosis: 3-4 weeks;
• Ulcerative colitis: 6-8 weeks

If necessary, a longer intake of Lactovit Forte is possible (from 6 to 8 weeks) in a maintenance dose, which is 1/2 of the therapeutic dose.
