Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Simethicone, the active component of Disflatil, is a silicon-containing compound that has surface activity and antifoam properties.
Due to its physicochemical characteristics, simethicone is classified as chemically and physiologically inert, non-toxic substances that are not absorbed by the cell membrane of the gastrointestinal mucosa.
Simethicone physically destroys gas bubbles, which leads to a change in their surface tension and, thereby, forces them to subside. Due to this property, the drug can be used in the symptomatic treatment of excessive gas formation in the gastrointestinal tract. The released gas is subsequently discharged naturally.
Indications for use
The use of Disflatil is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of all types of gas accumulation in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and excessive gas formation: flatulence, including postoperative, bloating, aerophagia. The action of the drug helps to reduce feelings of fullness and tension in the abdomen.
Drops are taken to remove gases and air from the gastrointestinal tract in preparation for X-ray, endoscopic, sonographic and ultrasound examinations of the intestine and / or stomach.
