Deprim is a herbal antidepressant.
Release form and composition
Deprim is produced in the form of coated tablets: biconvex, round, green (in blisters of 10 pcs., From 3 to 6 blisters in a cardboard box).
The composition of 1 tablet includes:
- Active ingredient: St. John's wort (dry standardized extract) - 60 mg (including hypericin (total) - 0.3 mg);
- Auxiliary components: magnesium stearate, lactose, talc, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal silicon dioxide.
Shell composition: carnauba wax, polyethylene glycol, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, talc, green and blue glaze, titanium dioxide (E171).
Pharmacological properties
Deprim is a herbal medicine with antidepressant and anxiolytic effects. Its active ingredient - extract of the herb St. John's wort - contains flavonoids, pseudohypericin, hypericin, hyperforin, which improve the functional state of the autonomic and central nervous system. Deprim improves mood and provides greater physical and mental activity.

Indications for use
- Depressive states of moderate and mild severity, accompanied by a feeling of anxiety (including conditions associated with climacteric syndrome);
- Increased sensitivity to weather changes;
- Decreased mood.
Contraindications
- Severe depression;
- Age up to 6 years;
- Hypersensitivity to drug components.
For nursing and pregnant women, Deprim can only be taken if the expected benefit to the mother is higher than the potential risk to the fetus or child.
Instructions for the use of Deprim: method and dosage
Deprim should be taken orally with water.
Children from 12 years old and adults are usually prescribed 1 tablet 3 times a day (regularly at the same time). For children 6-12 years old, the drug can be taken in 1-2 tablets (in the morning and evening) under medical supervision.
The therapeutic effect appears 10-14 days after the start of therapy. The optimal effect of taking Deprim regularly is usually achieved within a few weeks.
If a dose is missed, it must be taken as soon as possible. You should not take an additional dose to compensate for the missed dose.
Side effects
During therapy, the development of disorders from some body systems is possible:
- Central nervous system: restlessness, feeling tired;
- Digestive system: vomiting, nausea, constipation;
- Dermatological reactions: photosensitivity (in combination with sunbathing in patients with hypersensitivity to sunlight);
- Allergic reactions: itching, flushing of the skin.
Overdose
Acute intoxication with Deprim in humans has not been registered. Signs of an overdose include drowsiness, lethargy, general weakness, and a greater severity of side effects depending on the dose taken. There are reports of confusion and the development of seizures after taking a dose of Deprim not exceeding 4.5 g daily for 2 weeks and taking an additional 15 g of the drug immediately before admission to the hospital. With significant overdoses, phototoxic reactions sometimes develop.
In this case, the drug is canceled and activated carbon is prescribed. It is also recommended to avoid exposure to the sun and UV radiation for 1-2 weeks. Outdoor activities should be limited as much as possible and clothing and / or skin protection should be used.

According to the instructions, Deprim should be taken with caution along with anticonvulsants, antidepressants (serotonin reuptake inhibitors), monoamine oxidase inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, anti-migraine drugs (tryptans), cardiac glycosides (including digoxin), oral hormonal drugs, contraceptives, contraceptives, contraceptives, cyclosporine.
When used together, Deprim can enhance the effect of opioid analgesics and general anesthetics.
