Iodantipyrine is a drug with anti-inflammatory, immunostimulating and interferonogenic effects.
Release form and composition
The dosage form of the release of Iodantipyrine is tablets: flat-cylindrical, with a bevel on both sides, almost white or white, with a weak specific odor or without it (10 pcs. In blister / no-cell blisters, 2 or 5 packs are placed in a cardboard box; 50 pcs. In glass jars, 1 jar is placed in a cardboard box).
Composition of 1 tablet:
- active substance: iodophenazone (iodantipyrine) - 100 mg;
- additional components: potato starch, dextrose, magnesium stearate.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Iodantipyrine has anti-inflammatory, immunostimulating and interferonogenic effects. Delays the penetration of the virus into cells and stabilizes biological membranes. Stimulates humoral and cellular immunity, is an active inducer of alpha and beta interferon. Shows activity against hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome and tick-borne encephalitis virus.
Pharmacokinetics
Iodophenazone is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, the bioavailability of the substance is 80%. Up to 95% is metabolized in the liver. Excretion in urine through the kidneys by active transport into the renal tubules: inactive metabolites - 80–95%; unchanged - 3-5%.
Has a high affinity for tissue proteins. In therapeutic concentrations, it rapidly passes from blood plasma albumin, reaching a maximum concentration in tissues after 10–12 hours. Plasma protein binding - 25%. The half-life is approximately 6 hours.
Indications for use
- tick-borne encephalitis (treatment and prevention);
- hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (treatment simultaneously with other drugs).
Contraindications
- hepatic / renal failure;
- hyperfunction of the thyroid gland;
- pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding;
- childhood;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug, as well as any preparations containing iodine.
Instructions for the use of Yodantipyrin: method and dosage
The tablets should be taken orally, preferably after meals.
The recommended dosing regimen for tick-borne encephalitis:
- treatment and prophylaxis after tick sucking (single dose with a frequency of use 3 times a day): 1-2 days - 3 tablets; 3-4th day - 2 tablets; 5-9th day - 1 tablet;
- prophylaxis during stay in places that are associated with possible suction of ticks: 3 times a day, 2 tablets for 2 days before visiting places associated with the likelihood of tick sucking; 1 time per day, 2 tablets throughout the entire period.
For hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome, the drug is prescribed within 5 days from the onset of the disease. Recommended dosing regimen (single dose with a frequency of application 3 times a day):
- 1st to 4th day: 2 tablets;
- 5-9th day: 1 tablet.
Side effects
Possible side reactions: skin rash, angioedema, dyspepsia, itching.
Overdose
In case of an overdose, in extremely rare cases, the development of signs of iodism or the side effects described above is noted.
special instructions
When treating and preventing tick-borne encephalitis, combined use with anti-tick-borne immunoglobulin is not recommended.
In focal forms of tick-borne encephalitis, a specific immunoglobulin should first be prescribed according to the usual scheme, then after 2-3 days - Iodantipirin in the indicated dosages.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
According to the instructions, Yodantipirin is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation.
Pediatric use
For pediatric patients, the drug is not prescribed.
With impaired renal function
Renal failure is a contraindication to the use of the drug.
For violations of liver function
Liver failure is a contraindication to the use of the drug.
Drug interactions
With the simultaneous use of certain drugs / substances, the following effects may develop:
- H2-receptor blockers, antacids: a decrease in the absorption of iodantipyrine and a weakening of its action;
- indirect anticoagulants, oral hypoglycemic drugs, tricyclic antidepressants, barbiturates: enhancement of their action (associated with displacement from the connection with proteins).
