Release form and composition
Dosage form - capsules: gelatinous, soft, translucent, oval; content - oily, colorless transparent liquid with a characteristic odor (10 pcs. in a blister, 2 blisters in a cardboard box).
Active ingredient: standardized myrtol - 120 mg, based on the minimum content: cineole - 30 mg, limonene - 30 mg, α-pinene - 8 mg.
Additional components:
- Excipients: medium chain triglycerides;
- The composition of the capsule: sorbitol, glycerol, hydrochloric acid 13%, gelatin;
- The composition of the enteric shell: triethyl acetate, hypromellose acetate succinate, sodium lauryl sulfate, dextrin, talc, ammonium glycyrrhizinate.

Pharmacodynamics
GeloMyrtol has the following effects on the body:
- reduces the viscosity of phlegm and facilitates the process of expectoration;
- increases the activity of the ciliated epithelium;
- reduces the viscosity of bronchial secretions.
The drug has antimicrobial, fungicidal and antioxidant effects.
Pharmacokinetics
The drug is absorbed in the small intestine. It takes 1-3 hours to reach the maximum concentration in blood plasma.
GeloMyrtol is excreted as follows:
- with urine - about 60%;
- with feces - about 5%;
- lungs - about 2%.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, GeloMyrtol is used in the complex therapy of inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, such as sinusitis, acute and chronic bronchitis.
Contraindications
- Bronchial asthma;
- Urolithiasis disease;
- Cholelithiasis;
- Children under 6 years old;
- I trimester of pregnancy;
- Lactation;
- Hypersensitivity to drug components.
Instructions for the use of GeloMirtol: method and dosage
GeloMyrtol should be taken orally 30 minutes before meals, swallowing capsules whole and drinking plenty of room temperature liquid.
Recommended doses:
- Adults: acute inflammation - 2 capsules 4-5 times a day; chronic inflammation - 2 capsules 3 times a day. To facilitate sputum discharge in the morning, you can additionally take 2 capsules at bedtime;
- Children 10-18 years old: acute inflammation - 1 capsule 4-5 times a day; chronic inflammation - 1 capsule 2-3 times a day;
- Children 6-10 years old: acute inflammation - 1 capsule 3-4 times a day; chronic inflammation - 1 capsule 2-3 times a day.
The duration of treatment is determined by the attending physician, depending on the severity of the course of the disease.
Side effects
- Allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, facial swelling and bronchial spasm);
- Dry mouth, flatulence, nausea, diarrhea, acorns, vomiting;
- Shortness of breath, tachycardia;
- Increased mobility of kidney stones and gallbladder.
Overdose
Accidental overdose of GeloMyrtol can cause vomiting, nausea, seizures, and in severe cases, respiratory failure or coma. In rare cases, severe intoxication can lead to violations of the cardiovascular system.
Recommended treatment:
- taking vaseline oil (3 ml per 1 kg of body weight);
- gastric lavage with baking soda;
- ventilation of the lungs with oxygen.

In the II and III trimesters of pregnancy, GeloMyrtol can be used only as directed by a doctor, who must assess the ratio of the expected benefits to the woman and the possible risks to the fetus.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
The drug can cross the placental barrier and pass into breast milk.
It is forbidden to use GeloMyrtol in the first trimester of pregnancy. In the II-III trimester, the drug is prescribed only after a thorough analysis of the possible harm to the child and the expected benefit to the mother.
Pediatric use
The drug can be used to treat children from 6 years of age.
