Balarpan is a drug used to treat eye diseases.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - eye drops 0.01%: colorless, odorless transparent solution (in vials of 5 and 10 ml, in a cardboard box 1 bottle; in dropper tubes of 1.5 ml, in a cardboard box 1 or 2 pieces).

1 ml of eye drops contains:

  • Active substances: sulfated glycosaminoglycans - 100 μg;
  • Excipients: sodium chloride, purified water.

Pharmacological properties

The active components of the drug - glycosaminoglycans, are natural components of the connective tissue of the cornea and activate the regeneration processes occurring in it.

Indications for use

According to the instructions, Balarpan is prescribed for the following diseases / conditions:

  • Ulcerative keratitis;
  • Corneal burns;
  • Keratotomy;
  • Keratopathy of various etiologies and diseases associated with impaired metabolism of corneal tissues;
  • Keratoplasty;
  • Epithelial endothelial corneal dystrophy;
  • Belmo;
  • Keratomileusis;
  • Keratoconjunctivitis.

Contraindications

Balarpan eye drops are not prescribed for children under 18 years of age, as well as for pregnant and lactating women (due to the lack of information on the safety and effectiveness of its use).

In addition, the use of the drug is contraindicated in the presence of hypersensitivity to its constituent components.

Instructions for the use of Balarpan: method and dosage

Balarpan eye drops are used conjunctivally.

With keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, dryness of the cornea, 1-2 drops are instilled into the sore eye. At the beginning of treatment (first 2 days), the frequency of application of the drug is 6-8 times a day, after which it is reduced to 2-3 times a day.

The duration of treatment depends on the severity and duration of the disease, the duration of the postoperative intervention and the response to therapy. On average, the drug is used for 10-30 days.

For other indications, Balarpan is used:

  • Corneal injuries - 1-2 drops a day 3-6 times a day;
  • Correction of vision with contact lenses and involutional changes in the cornea - 2 drops 2 times a day (in the morning and evening, after removing the lenses).

Side effects

Conjunctival hyperemia may develop.
