Biovital is a multivitamin complex used to treat or prevent hypovitaminosis.
Release form and composition
Biovital is produced in the form of dragees: shiny, round, convex on both sides, color from pale crimson to dark red (15 pcs. In blisters, in a cardboard box 2, 4 or 6 blisters and instructions for using Biovital).
1 tablet contains:
- Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) - 20 mg;
- Vitamin A (retinol acetate) - 500 IU;
- Vitamin B1 (thiamine hydrochloride) - 0.25 mg;
- Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride) - 0.25 mg;
- Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) - 0.25 mg;
- Vit. B9 (folic acid) - 0.25 mg;
- Vitamin PP (nicotinamide) - 2.5 mg;
- Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) - 0.005 mg;
- Ferrous sulfate - 50 mg;
- Citrate complex of sodium-iron (III) - 50 mg;
- Dry extract of hawthorn fruit - 4 mg;
- Dry extract of leaves and flowers of hawthorn - 2.5 mg;
- Dry extract of motherwort herb - 1 mg.
Biovital also contains auxiliary substances: purified water, glucose syrup, povidone, stearyl alcohol, sucrose, magnesium stearate, gelatin, stearic acid, corn starch, butylhydroxytoluene, silicon, dextrin.

Sedative, restorative and replenishing the deficiency of vitamins and microelements effect of Biovital is due to the properties of the active components that make up its composition.
The main properties of the components:
- vitamin A: influences the structural integrity of epithelial cells, is necessary for the normal development of the skin and mucous membranes, increases resistance to infections and prevents excessive keratinization;
- vitamin B: contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system, normalizes the work of the heart;
- vitamin B 2: helps to improve tissue regeneration, including skin cells;
- vitamin B 6: helps to maintain the functions and structure of teeth, bones, gums; affects erythropoiesis, is necessary for the normal functioning of the nervous system;
- vitamin B 9: takes part in erythropoiesis, enhances the process of wound regeneration;
- vitamin B 12: takes part in hematopoiesis and other tissue regenerating processes;
- a combination of vitamins B 1, B 6 and B 12: affects the regeneration of nerve tissues in cases of damage;
- vitamin C: helps to improve the absorption of iron, the normal functioning of the immune system, takes part in the redox processes;
- vitamin PP: necessary for redox processes, provides the transfer of phosphate and hydrogen;
- iron: takes part in erythropoiesis, is an important component of hemoglobin, which ensures the delivery of oxygen to tissues;

Indications for use
Biovital is prescribed:
- With hypovitaminosis (for prevention and treatment);
- During pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- Under stressful conditions;
- With intense physical or mental work (students during the session, miners, etc.);
- During the recovery period after prolonged illness and radiation therapy;
- In the postoperative period;
- With various types of intoxication;
- During the period of intensive physical development in children, adolescents;
- With malnutrition.
Contraindications
The use of Biovital is contraindicated in people with hypervitaminosis, as well as in the presence of hypersensitivity to the components of the complex.
Taking a multivitamin complex is not recommended for children under 6 years of age.
The supplement is taken with caution in case of anemia of unknown origin (except for B12-deficiency anemia), as well as:
- Women over 35 years of age with complications of pregnancy (uterine hypertonicity or a history of miscarriages);
- Patients with urolithiasis.
Biovital, instructions for use: method and dosage
Dragee Biovital is taken orally, without chewing, before or simultaneously with food.
Adults and adolescents are usually prescribed 1-2 pills 3 times a day, children of school age - 1 pill 2 times a day.
The duration of the complex reception is determined by the doctor.
Side effects
When using Biovital, it is possible to develop mild side effects, which are manifested most often in the form of allergic reactions.
If the doses indicated in the instructions are exceeded or with prolonged use, an overdose may develop. It manifests itself in various symptoms of hypervitaminosis conditions:
- Hypervitaminosis A - diarrhea, decreased vision, bone pain and headache, hair loss, stomach pain, vomiting, enlarged liver; in children under 1 year old - increased pressure of cerebrospinal fluid and protrusion of the fontanel;
- Hypervitaminosis D - vomiting, thirst, an increase in the daily amount of urine, ossification of soft tissues, urolithiasis and cholelithiasis;
- Hypervitaminosis B6 - neurological symptoms (staggering when walking, loss of limb sensitivity);
- Iron overdose - nausea, vomiting, symptomatic stomach ulcer.

Overdose
If the therapeutic dose is observed, an overdose of vitamins is unlikely.
Taking more than 30 pills of Biovital is equivalent to taking 1 g of iron and increases the likelihood of intoxication in children.
Symptoms of acute intoxication after taking 1 g of iron per day: hemorrhagic gastroenteritis in combination with nausea, vomiting, pain in the epigastric region and subsequent circulatory collapse, acidosis and general blood clotting disorders.
Therapy: induce vomiting, make gastric lavage, take measures to ensure circulatory support.
Bicarbonate or phosphate buffer is used as an antidote; Desferal may be administered according to indications. Requires repeated monitoring of the level of iron in the blood serum. For several hours, a decrease in blood clotting will be noted.
special instructions
Biovital can cause changes in stool color (due to the presence of iron, stool turns black), which is not a threat to health and does not require discontinuation of the drug. Due to the presence of riboflavin, urine can turn bright yellow.
If allergic reactions occur, the drug should be discontinued.
The concomitant use of other multivitamin preparations is not recommended.
1 tablet contains 0.02 XE (grain units), so patients with diabetes can use Biovital.

Do not take Biovital together with barbiturates, salicylates, sulfonamides, antiparkinsonian and antiepileptic drugs, cardiac glycosides, methotrexate, trimethoprim, pyrimethamine, triamterene, sulfasalazine, biguanides, fluorouracil, pentacylamide, vinblastine, others medicines. With the simultaneous use of Biovital with these drugs, their effect may be weakened.
