Arteritis
Arteritis (arteriitis; Greek aer - air + Greek tereo - contain + Latin it (word-form suffix) - inflammatory process) - inflammation of the artery walls.
The following types of arteritis are distinguished:
- Allergic (allergica) - arteritis, in the pathogenesis of which allergic mechanisms are involved;
- Aseptic (aseptica) - is toxic or toxic-allergic in nature, not associated with a direct effect on the vascular wall of the pathogen;
- Purulent necrotic (purulenta necrotica) - a combination of processes of necrosis and leukocyte infiltration of the vascular wall;
- Infectious (infectiosa) - develops in infectious diseases (rickettsioses, syphilis, brucellosis, rheumatism, scarlet fever, flu);
- Necrotic (necrotica) - characterized by focal necrosis of the vascular wall; observed in sepsis, toxic-allergic processes and collagenoses;
- Polypoid-ulcerative (polypoulcerosa) - characterized by ulceration of the inner lining of the artery with the formation of fibrinous leukocytic blood clots in the form of a polyp;
- Productive-purulent (productiva purulenta) - a combination of processes of organizing exudate and purulent infiltration of the vascular wall with the growth of the inner lining of the artery;
- Productive necrotic (productiva necrotica) - a combination of processes of necrosis and sclerosis of the vascular wall with the growth of the inner lining of the artery;
- Productive (productiva) - characterized by the growth of the inner lining of the artery;
- Rheumatic (rheumatica) - productive-necrotizing arteritis against the background of rheumatism, occurring with the formation of rheumatic granulomas, adipose or perivascular connective tissue in the vessel walls;
- Syphilitic (syphilitica) - productive-necrotic arteritis against the background of syphilis, characterized by lymphoplasmacytic infiltration of the walls of large arteries of mixed and elastic type;
- Specific (specifica) - develops against the background of chronic infectious diseases (syphilis, tuberculosis, leprosy, scleroma); differs in morphological features characteristic of these diseases;
- Toxoplasmosis (toxoplasmotica) - productive arteritis against the background of toxoplasmosis; leads to obliteration of the arteries and sclerosis of the walls;
- Tuberculosis (tuberculosa) - necrotic and / or productive arteritis; due to the development of tuberculous inflammation in the arterial wall with the formation of tubercles;
- Ulcerative (ulcerosa) - necrotic-purulent arteritis, accompanied by ulceration of the inner membranes of the arteries.
