Adenocytes
Adenocytes (adenocyti; Greek adenos, aden - gland + hist. Cytus - cell) are glandular cells located in the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland.
Allocate:
- Adenocytes acidophilic (adenocyti acidophili, definition in the system of anatomical terms: LNH (Leningrad histological nomenclature); synonym: eosinophilic adenocytes) - oval-shaped adenocytes. They secrete somatotropic and lactogenic hormones. Acid dyes that turn pink;
- B-basophilic adenocytes (adenocyti B-basophili, definition in the system of anatomical terms: LNH (Leningrad histological nomenclature); synonym: beta-basophils, basophilic adenocytes, beta cells) - adenocytes containing secretory granules in the cytoplasm. Colored with basic dyes and intensely colored with aldehyde fuchsin. It is believed that B-basophilic adenocytes produce thyroid-stimulating hormone;
- D-basophilic adenocytes (adenocyti D-basophili, definition in the system of anatomical terms: LNH (Leningrad histological nomenclature); synonym: delta basophils, gonadotropocytes, delta cells) - adenocytes containing secretory granules with a large amount of glucoproteins in the cytoplasm. Colored with basic dyes. Produce gonadotropic hormones;
- Chromophilic adenocytes (adenocyti chromophili, definition in the system of anatomical terms: LNH (Leningrad histological nomenclature); synonym: chromophilic cells) - adenocytes that accept histological dyes well;
- Chromophobic adenocytes (adenocyti chromophobi, definition in the system of anatomical terms: LNH (Leningrad histological nomenclature); synonym: chromophobic cells) - weakly staining adenocytes. Does not contain secretory granules.
