Aquazan is an antiseptic disinfectant and dehydrating preparation for local and external use, with a wide range of antimicrobial action; active against viruses, bacteria (including mycobacterium tuberculosis), protozoa and fungi.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - solution for local and external use 10%: a film-forming liquid of dark brown color with a specific weak odor or without it, with ethyl alcohol, water, polyethylene glycol, etc. is mixed in any proportions (10, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 ml in dark glass bottles; 10, 15, 25, 100, 250, 330, 500 and 4500 ml each in polyethylene terephthalate bottles).

1 ml of Aquazan solution contains:

  • Active ingredient: povidone-iodine 30/06 - 105 mg;
  • Auxiliary components: trisodium phosphate (solution saturation up to pH 2.5-3.5), purified water.

Indications for use

  • Prevention and treatment of trophic ulcers, infected wounds, burns, abrasions, bedsores;
  • Treatment of acne, pyoderma, dermatomycosis, infectious dermatitis, skin reactions after insect bites;
  • Rinsing the mouth and throat for stomatitis, periodontitis and other infectious pathologies of the oral cavity and nasopharynx;
  • Treatment of mucous membranes (including obstetric practice and gynecology);
  • Hygienic treatment of patients;
  • Skin treatment before and after surgery, injection, biopsy, puncture, blood collection, catheterization and other manipulations associated with violation of the integrity of the skin;
  • Hand treatment of the surgeon and medical personnel before and after the operation, treatment of instruments and patient care items, antiseptic treatment of hands when caring for infectious patients.

Contraindications

  • Thyroid adenoma;
  • Thyrotoxicosis;
  • Dermatitis herpetiformis (Duhring's disease);
  • Simultaneous use of radioactive iodine;
  • The neonatal period in children, especially with premature pregnancy;
  • Hypersensitivity to iodine.

The drug should be used with caution in patients with chronic renal failure, women in the II-III trimester of pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

Method of administration and dosage

Aquazan is intended for external and local use as an application or lubrication.

The solution is used without dilution or in the form of aqueous solutions in a ratio of 1: 2, 1:10 or 1: 100. The preparation must be diluted immediately before use. A solution diluted in a ratio of 1: 2 and 1:10 can be used within ten days, in a ratio of 1: 100 - no more than three days.

Method of application and concentration:

  • Treatment of abrasions, small wounds, burns and other skin lesions: without dilution, smear the wound surface with a solution or apply a gauze pad moistened with Aquazan;
  • Disinfection of healthy skin areas before manipulations associated with a violation of the integrity of the skin (puncture, blood sampling, biopsy, etc.): without dilution, with an exposure of 1-2 minutes;
  • Disinfection of the skin, mucous membranes before surgery and invasive intervention (including obstetric practice and gynecology): without dilution, with an exposure of 2 minutes; the operating field is treated with the solution twice;
  • Rinsing the mouth and throat: water solution, dilution 1:10, 4-5 times a day; for washing the lacunae of the tonsils in chronic tonsillitis, the drug is diluted in a ratio of 1: 5;
  • Hand treatment of surgical personnel: without dilution, 5 ml for each hand is rubbed with palms for 5 minutes from hands to elbow, after thorough rinsing, the procedure is repeated;
  • Treatment of infectious pathologies of the mucous membranes and skin: without dilution, treat the problem area for 1-2 minutes;
  • Hygienic treatment of the patient before surgery: in a ratio of 1: 100, the patient's body is wiped with a sponge soaked in solution;
  • Prevention and treatment of complications after invasive manipulations, treatment of purulent wounds: without dilution or in a 1: 2 ratio, lubricating the affected skin area or applying an application;
  • Treatment of burns: without dilution or in a ratio of 1:10, taking into account the condition of the wound, the dressing should be soaked in undiluted solution;
  • Treatment of bacterial and fungal dermatitis: the solution is diluted in a ratio of 1:10;
  • Treatment of scratches, small wounds, burns, fungal and bacterial skin lesions at home, including the treatment of healthy skin areas: without dilution.

Side effects

  • Local reactions: a transient burning sensation at the site of application of the drug;
  • Hypersensitivity reactions: skin rash, contact dermatitis, itching.

In case of an overdose (use over a large area of mucous membranes, skin, wounds, burns, as well as prolonged and frequent use), the development of neutropenia, hypothyroidism, goiter, the phenomenon of iodism (urticaria, rhinitis, increased salivation, Quincke's edema) is possible. If the above symptoms appear, the drug should be discontinued.

The activity of the drug decreases faster at temperatures above 40 ° C and in the light.

If the intensity of the dark brown color of the solution decreases, its effectiveness deteriorates.

Avoid contact with eyes.

The bactericidal effect of Aquazan in the presence of blood may be reduced.

Aquazan is pharmaceutically incompatible with disinfectants containing mercury, alkalis, acids, oxidizing agents, reducing agents.
