The appearance of laryngitis can be influenced by hypothermia, smoking, work or prolonged stay in dusty and / or gas-polluted rooms. It often occurs during childhood. The disease is dangerous for children under 3 years old, since as a result of laryngeal edema, the child may suffocate.
Laryngitis symptoms
In most cases, laryngitis is preceded by ARVI (acute respiratory viral infection). Its initial symptoms resemble a cold. A person feels bad, becomes lethargic, his appetite disappears. Sometimes the disease is manifested by a slight increase in body temperature.
As a result of edema of the vocal cords, problems with the voice appear: it becomes hoarse, rough, periodically disappears. This can be accompanied by a sore throat and sore throat.
Laryngitis comes with a dry cough that resembles a dog's barking. Painful coughing fits can occur both during the day and at night, causing sleep disturbances. Sputum begins to recede at the stage of recovery, and in some cases, its appearance indicates the development of complications.
How to treat laryngitis with folk remedies
Inhalation
Inhalation with decoctions / infusions of medicinal herbs or essential oils has a good effect.

One tablespoon of eucalyptus leaves, chamomile flowers, oregano or calendula is poured with hot water and bent over the pan, having previously covered with a blanket or towel. For these purposes, you can also use essential oils that have anti-inflammatory effects.
When coughing, inhalations with alkaline mineral water (Borjomi, Essentuki) are used. The remedy can also be prepared at home by adding 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to a glass of hot water.

To prepare a solution for gargling 200 ml of boiling water, pour one tablespoon of dry raw materials. After two hours, the product is filtered. The duration of the procedure is 5 minutes, the frequency of application is twice a day. Apply until symptoms disappear;
- calendula. Calendula flowers have anti-inflammatory, astringent, healing and antiseptic properties. The finished tincture can be purchased at the pharmacy. To prepare it at home, use 100 ml of 70% alcohol and 10 g of dried flowers. Insist the product in a tightly sealed container in a dark place for a week. For laryngitis, a teaspoon of tincture is diluted in 100-200 ml of warm water and gargled for 5-10 minutes. Up to three procedures are carried out per day;
- Linden. The flowers of this plant have bactericidal and analgesic properties. 200 ml of boiling water is poured over one tablespoon of raw materials, and after the product has cooled to a comfortable temperature, filtered. Add 5 g of baking soda to the infusion. Gargle in the morning and evening.
Onion
The leaves and bulbs of this plant contain phytoncides that inhibit the growth of pathogenic microorganisms that cause laryngitis. There are recipes to quickly cure the disease.
Onions are used in the treatment of laryngitis in different ways.
Several large onion heads are chopped and with the help of gauze squeeze the juice, which is mixed with the same amount of honey (preferably May). I take the remedy three times a day, a teaspoon. This allows you to get rid of coughing fits and quickly restore your voice.

One of the most effective treatments for dry cough is a combination of aloe, honey, butter, and a quail egg. For cooking, aloe leaf is crushed into gruel, two tablespoons of honey and butter are added. The product is placed in a water bath and boiled for 30 minutes. After it has cooled down to a comfortable temperature, a quail egg whipped into foam is added to it. With bouts of dry cough, dissolve 1/2 teaspoon of the mixture. Store in a tightly closed glass jar in the refrigerator for no more than 3 days.
Mother and stepmother
Decoctions and infusions of coltsfoot leaves, due to the presence of mucus saponins and essential oil, have antimicrobial, emollient, wound-healing and expectorant effect.

Mucus, spreading over the surface of the respiratory tract, forms a protective film that protects the epithelium from the irritating effects of food, cold, viruses and bacteria. They also promote tissue regeneration.
Commonly used recipes:
- mixture with sugar. One tablespoon of dry leaves is ground into powder and mixed with the same amount of crushed sugar. The dose is divided into three doses;
- water infusion. 200 ml of boiling water is poured into 15 g of dry inflorescences. Insist 2 hours, then filter. With laryngitis, take 20 ml 6 times a day;
- alcohol tincture. 10 g of dry leaves of mother-and-stepmother are poured with 100 ml of alcohol. The product is left for a week in a dark place. Take 20 drops of tincture three times a day before meals;
- broth. To prepare it, 10 g of dry leaves of mother-and-stepmother are poured with 250 ml of water and boiled over low heat until the volume is halved. After cooling it must be filtered and taken every 2-3 hours, one tablespoon.
If within 2-3 days after the start of treatment of laryngitis with folk methods there is no improvement, the manifestations of the disease intensify and additional symptoms appear, you should consult a doctor.
