Development of concentration of attention
The development of concentration of attention is the primary, most important task of learning. In fact, this is exactly where any learning should start. It is the ability to concentrate that determines the student's success. One student, some time after the start of his studies, is perceived as "dumb", and the other as smart. The difference between them, at least in childhood, is not at all in the level of intelligence development, but in the ability to concentrate. In the future, as knowledge and skills of mental activity accumulate, some students are finally fixed as incapable, and others as clever.
It is not difficult to develop concentration of attention in a child, it is much more difficult to develop it in an adult whose mind is already slack with a lack of the habit of concentration. This is why it is said that the best that elementary school can give is not only and not so much writing and reading skills, but the ability to learn - the ability to concentrate the mind on a specific task. It is good if the kid is lucky with the teachers, and he was taught this. Such a person will undoubtedly be successful: he can plan his activities, think about it, arrange the sequence of events, and most importantly, stick to his plans. A person whose attention rushes like a moth from one object to another, without staying anywhere for a long time, is doomed to the same fussy and ineffective activity in his life.
Meanwhile, developing concentration is not so difficult. For this, special programs have been developed, moreover, it can be done independently, provided that a person consciously takes the trouble to do this, and pays due attention to this activity. It will take not so much time, half an hour a day is quite enough. This can be a half-hour class of concentration exercises, or two sessions of a quarter of an hour in the morning and evening, but the main thing is that the sessions are regular.
The simplest exercise for developing attention concentration is as follows: select any object and focus your attention on it, holding it firmly for at least two minutes - put the clock next to it to keep track of the time. Gradually, the time to concentrate on this subject should be brought to five minutes. You can think about anything you want, but only from what concerns the subject. Moments when thoughts begin to jump to another, you need to track, and return attention to the chosen subject. At the same time, notice what hinders you - these hindrances also hinder the development of concentration. Uncomfortable posture, background noises, uncomfortable surroundings - try to get rid of interference. Each time your mind will become more disciplined, and one day you will notice that not only mental, but any activity has become more effective and requires less effort, than before.
