Bronchus (s)
Bronchus (s) [bronchus, -i - PNA (Parisian Anatomical Nomenclature), BNA (Basel Anatomical Nomenclature), JNA (Jena Anatomical Nomenclature); lat., from the Greek. bronchos - windpipe; the prefix denoting the connection with the bronchi] - an organ that is a branch of the trachea and belongs to the system of the lower respiratory tract; placed in the lungs, in the pleural sacs and in the mediastinum, provides air delivery to the lungs and its output, as well as the removal of lumps of mucus, dust particles, microorganisms and so on.
Allocate bronchus (s):
- The main [principalis - PNA (Parisian Anatomical Nomenclature)] - which is the initial part of the bronchus, going from the bifurcation (bifurcation) of the trachea to its division in the lung into lobar bronchi;
- Accessory (accessorius) - a bronchus, which is a developmental anomaly that has arisen in the form of an addition to the two main bronchi;
- Lobar [lobaris - PNA (Parisian Anatomical Nomenclature); ramus bronchialis - BNA (Basel Anatomical Nomenclature); ramus bronchalis - JNA (Jena Anatomical Nomenclature)] - a branch of the main bronchus, following to the lobe of the lung and breaking into segmental bronchi; in the left lung, the lower and upper left bronchi are distinguished, and in the right - the lower, middle and upper right bronchi are lobar;
- Lobular (lobulares) - small bronchi reaching the pulmonary lobules, often of the 8th order of branching;
- Drainage - the bronchus, through which the cavity formed in the lung is emptied (tuberculous cavity, abscess);
- Segmental [segmentalis - PNA (Parisian Anatomical Nomenclature)] - a branch of the lobar bronchus, passing to the segment of the lung;
- Tracheal (trachealis) - displaced upper lobar or accessory bronchus, starting directly from the trachea, mainly above the bifurcation; is a developmental anomaly.
