Ftivazid is a drug against tuberculosis.
Composition and form of release of Ftivazid
The drug is available in tablet form. One tablet contains the active ingredient - ftivazid 100 mg.
In blisters of 10 tablets or in dark glass jars of 100 tablets.
Pharmacological action of Ftivazid
According to the instructions, Ftivazid is an anti-tuberculosis drug derived from isonicotinic acid hydrazide.
Active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The use of the drug inhibits metabolic and oxidative processes, leads to damage to the membrane of mycobacteria, inhibits the synthesis of nucleic acids, and has an effect on mycobacteria at all levels.
Indications for the use of Ftivazid
According to the instructions, Ftivazid is intended for the treatment of all forms of tuberculosis in children and adults.
Method of administration and dosage regimen
The drug is taken orally.
Typically, the dosage for adults is 5 tablets two to three times a day. Children take the drug at the rate of 30-40 mg per kg of body weight per day, divided into three doses.
For tuberculous lupus, the dosage is 3 tablets three to four times a day. Duration of treatment is 1-1.5 months. If necessary, you can undergo a second course of treatment after a two-month break.
The maximum permissible daily dose for adults is 1.5 g of ftivazide, for children - 1 g.
Contraindications
The instructions for Ftivazid contain the following contraindications:
- epilepsy;
- angina pectoris;
- hypersensitivity to the drug;
- chronic heart failure 2-3 degrees;
- kidney or liver disease;
- organic lesions of the central nervous system;
- alcoholism;
- chronic renal failure;

Ftivazid enhances the side effects of alcohol, paracetamol, carbamazepine, benzodiazepines, hepatotoxic drugs. It also enhances the effect of antiplatelet agents and anticoagulants, and reduces glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids.
The absorption of the drug is slowed down by antacids.
