DexaTobropt is a local combination drug with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial action, used in ophthalmology.

Release form and composition

Dosage form of release of DexaTobropt - eye drops: white or almost white suspension; a precipitate may be present, which, with slight agitation, quickly dissipates (5 ml each in polymer dropper bottles, 1 dropper bottle is placed in a cardboard box).

Active ingredients in 1 ml drops:

  • dexamethasone - 1 mg;
  • tobramycin - 3 mg.

Additional components: hypromellose - 5 mg; tyloxapol - 0.5 mg; sodium sulfate - 12 mg; disodium edetate dihydrate - 0.1 mg; sodium chloride - 3.3 mg; 1M sodium hydroxide solution or 1M sulfuric acid solution - up to pH 5–6; benzalkonium chloride - 0.1 mg; purified water - up to 1 ml.

Indications for use

  • infectious eye diseases, including blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis (without damage to the epithelium);
  • inflammation in the postoperative period after cataract extraction (treatment and prevention).

Contraindications

  • eye diseases of viral etiology (including chickenpox caused by Herpes simplex keratitis);
  • conditions after removal of a foreign body from the cornea;
  • fungal eye diseases;
  • mycobacterial eye infections;
  • lactation period (there are no sufficient data confirming the safety / efficacy of the drug in this group of patients);
  • age up to 18 years (there are no sufficient data confirming the safety / efficacy of the drug in this group of patients);
  • individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Pregnant women can be prescribed DexaTobropt only in cases where the expected benefit is higher than the possible harm (due to insufficient data confirming the safety / efficacy of the drug).

Method of administration and dosage

Method of application of DexaTobropt - topically.

The recommended regimen of the drug use: instill 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye / eye every 4-6 hours.

After the operation to remove the cataract within 24 hours, it is possible to increase the frequency of using the drug (every 2 hours). After improvement of clinical signs, the frequency of use should be gradually reduced.

The bottle with drops must be shaken before use.

The bottle should be closed after each use. In order to maintain the sterility of the solution, it is not recommended to touch the eye with the tip of the pipette.

Side effects

  • organ of vision: during a long course - increased intraocular pressure; with constant use of a course of 3 months - corneal mycoses; possibly - posterior subcapsular cataract, slowing down of regeneration processes, secondary infection;
  • local allergic reactions: itching of the eyelids, swelling, conjunctival hyperemia;
  • systemic reactions: headache, increased blood pressure.

special instructions

DexaTobropt is intended exclusively for topical use (cannot be used for injections).

With a course duration of more than 10 days, intraocular pressure should be measured regularly.

When combined with systemic antibiotics of the aminoglycoside group, it is necessary to monitor the serum concentration of tobramycin in the blood (the maximum indicator is 0.008 mg / ml).

In cases of development of allergic reactions, the use of DexaTobropt should be discontinued.

The benzalkonium chloride (preservative) contained in the drops may cause irritation. There is also evidence that it can discolor soft contact lenses. In this regard, contact lenses must be removed before using the drug. You can install them again 15 minutes after instillation.

Immediately after the instillation of the drug, it is necessary to refrain from driving motor vehicles (due to the likelihood of temporary loss of vision clarity).

Drug interactions

No significant drug interactions have been identified with DexTobropt. In cases of its use with other local ophthalmic drugs, the break should be at least 5 minutes.
