Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
The active substances of the prostate extract belong to bioregulators of peptide origin - cytomedins. These substances are low molecular weight peptides with a molecular weight of 1 to 10 kDa. Possessing paracrine and autocrine effects, they play the role of trans-specific mediators at the intracellular and intercellular levels.
The extract of the prostate has an organotropic effect on the prostate gland, improves blood circulation by reducing the time of blood coagulation, increasing the antiaggregatory activity of the vascular wall and stimulating metabolism, enhances the fibrinolytic activity of the blood. Peptide bioregulators have immunostimulating, immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects, enhance the formation of anti-serotonin and antihistamine antibodies, help to reduce edema, leukocyte infiltration and pain. Thus, the drug reduces congestion and thrombosis in the prostate gland, and also reduces irritative and obstructive symptoms due to stimulation of the muscle tone of the bladder.
In the treatment of chronic prostatitis, the properties of peptide drugs are used to restore blood microcirculation, stimulate nonspecific resistance of the body and produce an indirect anti-inflammatory effect.
The organotropy of cytomedins allows one to selectively regulate the processes of functioning and differentiation of cells in a particular organ, due to which peptide bioregulators are used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Pharmacokinetics
Prostate extract, as a substance of polypeptide nature, is cleaved by cellular proteases to amino carboxylic acids.
