Thioctacid 600 T is a metabolic drug that regulates lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, has an antioxidant effect.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - solution for intravenous (i / v) administration: clear yellowish liquid (24 ml in dark glass ampoules, in a cardboard box 5 pcs.).

1 ampoule contains:

  • active substance: thioctate trometamol - 952.3 mg, which is equivalent to the content of 600 mg of thioctic (α-lipoic) acid;
  • auxiliary components: trometamol, water for injection.

Indications for use

  • alcoholic polyneuropathy;
  • diabetic polyneuropathy.

Contraindications

  • the period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
  • age up to 18 years;
  • individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Method of administration and dosage

Thioctacid 600 T solution is intended for intravenous slow administration (no more than 2 ml per minute).

The drug can be administered by drip or injection using a perfuser.

Remove ampoules from packaging immediately before use!

For intravenous drip, 1 ampoule of the drug should be mixed with 100–250 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution, the duration of the infusion is 30 minutes. In this case, the container with the finished solution must be wrapped in aluminum foil to protect the active substances that are sensitive to light. Solution for intravenous administration isolated from light is usable for the next 360 minutes.

For intravenous administration using a syringe for injection and a perfuser, use an undiluted solution, the introduction should be carried out for at least 12 minutes.

The recommended dosage for severe polyneuropathy: 600 mg once a day, the duration of treatment is 2-4 weeks, followed by the transfer of the patient to the oral form of therapy.

Side effects

  • on the part of the body as a whole: often - against the background of rapid intravenous administration, a transient increase in intracranial pressure and difficulty breathing are possible; rarely - allergic reactions at the infusion site; very rarely - the development of symptoms of hypoglycemia (increased sweating, confusion, headache, visual impairment), decreased blood glucose levels;
  • from the digestive system: infrequently - a feeling of a metallic taste; rarely - nausea, vomiting;
  • allergic reactions: very rarely - itchy skin, rash, skin redness, urticaria, eczema, systemic allergic reactions, anaphylactic shock;
  • on the part of the hematopoietic system: very rarely - punctate hemorrhages, a tendency to bleeding, purpura, thrombocytopathy, thrombophlebitis;
  • on the part of the senses and the nervous system: very rarely - diplopia, convulsions.

special instructions

Risk factors for the development of polyneuropathy include alcohol consumption. In addition, alcoholic beverages while using Thioctacid 600 T can reduce the effectiveness of therapy.

During the period of treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy, the patient should ensure that the optimal concentration of glucose in the blood is maintained.

Drug interactions

With the simultaneous use of Thioctacid 600 T:

  • insulin, oral hypoglycemic agents - may enhance their effect (regular monitoring of blood glucose concentration is required, especially in the first days of therapy; if necessary, in order to prevent the development of hypoglycemia, a decrease in the dose of hypoglycemic agents is shown);
  • cisplatin - reduces its effectiveness;
  • ethanol and its metabolites - reduce the effect of thioctic acid.

The drug is pharmaceutically incompatible with ethanol, Ringer's solution, dextrose solution and with solutions that react with S- and disulfide groups.
