Release form and composition

The drug is produced in the form of an ointment for external use 5%: a mass of light yellow color with a specific odor (30 or 50 g in aluminum tubes, in a cardboard box 1 tube; 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 50 g in glass cans of dark color, in a cardboard box 1 can and instructions for the use of Artrafic).

Artrafic is a drug for external use, stimulates regenerative (restorative) and metabolic processes in the articular cartilage, has anesthetic and anti-inflammatory effect, increases the mobility of the affected joints. The mechanism of action of the drug is due to the properties of its active substance - chondroitin sulfate, which is a high molecular weight mucopolysaccharide obtained from the tissues of cattle.

Chondroitin sulfate slows down the degeneration of cartilage tissue by inhibiting enzymes that disrupt the structure and function of articular cartilage. Improves calcium-phosphorus metabolism in cartilage tissue, activates the processes of its repair, stimulates the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans. Being a natural component, chondroitin sulfate promotes the regeneration of the cartilaginous surfaces of the joints and the articular capsule, increases the production of intra-articular fluid, and prevents the collapse of the connective tissue.

The drug suppresses the progression of osteoarthritis and osteochondrosis.

Pharmacokinetics

After applying the ointment to the skin of the body, the absorption of chondroitin sulfate is 14%. Dimethyl sulfoxide contributes to the improvement of the penetration of the active substance deep into the tissues through the cell membranes. The maximum concentration of chondroitin sulfate in the joint is reached after 0.5 hours, followed by a two-phase elimination of the drug from the cartilage tissue. The rapid phase of elimination is completed 1 hour after application, the total time spent in the joint is 5 hours.
