Dosage forms of Novo-Passit:

• oral solution: slightly cloudy or transparent, syrupy, from brown to red-brown in color, with a characteristic odor; during storage, a small precipitate may form, which dissolves when shaken (in sachets of 5 or 10 ml, in a cardboard box 12 or 30 sachets of 5 ml, 8 or 20 sachets of 10 ml; in bottles of 100, 200 or 450 ml, in a cardboard box 1 bottle);
• film-coated tablets: pale green, biconvex, oval, with a dividing line (in cans of 30, 60 or 100 pcs., in a carton box 1 can; in blisters of 10 pcs., in a carton box 1 or 3 blisters) …

Composition per 100 ml of solution:

• active substances: Novo-Passita liquid extract obtained from black elderberry flowers, common hops, passionflower herb, St. John's wort and lemon balm, leaves and flowers of hawthorn or prickly, rhizomes with roots of Valerian officinalis - 7.75 g; guaifenesin - 4 g;
• auxiliary components: purified water, propylene glycol, maltodextrin, sodium citrate dihydrate, orange flavor, ethanol 96%, sodium saccharin monohydrate, sodium benzoate, invert sugar syrup, xanthan gum, sodium cyclamate.

Composition for 1 tablet:

• active substances: Novo-Passita liquid extract obtained from the flowers of black elderberry, common hops, passionflower herb, St. John's wort and lemon balm, leaves and flowers of hawthorn or prickly hawthorn, rhizomes with roots of Valerian officinalis - 0.157 5 g; guaifenesin - 0.2 g;
• auxiliary components: lactose monohydrate - up to 0.8 g; magnesium stearate - 0.01 g; glycerol - 0.01 g; microcrystalline cellulose - 0.096 g; colloidal silicon dioxide - 0.002 g;
• shell: Opadry AMB 80W31115 green (indigo carmine dye - 1%, iron oxide yellow - 2%, quinoline yellow dye - 2.5%, xanthan gum - 0.48%, soy lecithin - 2%, talc - 20%, titanium dioxide - 26.5%, polyvinyl alcohol - 45.52%) - 0.024 g.

Pharmacodynamics

Novo-Passit is a combined product.

The pharmacological activity of the drug is due to its constituent components:

• an extract based on medicinal plants: it has a predominantly sedative effect;
• guaifenesin: has an anxiolytic effect.

Indications for use

• mild forms of insomnia;
• a state of constant mental stress (manager syndrome);
• migraine;
• headaches caused by nervous tension;
• neurasthenia and neurotic reactions, accompanied by absent-mindedness, fatigue, fear, anxiety, irritability;
• irritable bowel syndrome, dyspeptic syndrome (functional diseases of the gastrointestinal tract);
• climacteric syndrome, neurocirculatory dystonia (as a symptomatic agent);
• urticaria, seborrheic and atopic eczema (itchy dermatoses caused by psychological stress).

Contraindications

Absolute:

• myasthenia gravis;
• disturbances in the assimilation of glucose and galactose, congenital fructose intolerance (for solution);
• children under 12 years of age;
• lactation period;
• individual intolerance to the components of the drug, in particular guaifenesin.

Relative (diseases / conditions in the presence of which the appointment of Novo-Passita requires caution):

• liver disease;
• epilepsy;
• acute pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract;
• alcoholism;
• brain injury or disease;
• pregnancy.

Instructions for the use of Novo-Passit: method and dosage

Oral solution

Novo-Passit solution is taken orally, in pure form or diluted with a small amount of water.

When using the drug in vials, dosing is carried out by means of a measuring cap.

When there are no other doctor's recommendations, take 5 ml of the drug 3 times a day before meals. The dose can be doubled after medical advice.

If during the period of therapy the development of severe fatigue or depression is observed, the morning and day dose is reduced and 2.5 ml of solution are taken in the morning and daytime and 5 ml in the evening. An interval of 4 to 6 hours should be observed between doses.

When nausea occurs, Novo-Passit is taken with meals.

Film-coated tablets

Novo-Passit tablets are taken orally, before meals. The recommended dose is 1 pc. 3 times a day. It is allowed to increase the dose by 2 times after consulting a doctor.

If during the period of therapy the development of severe fatigue or depression is observed, the morning and afternoon dose is reduced and ½ pieces are taken. in the morning and afternoon and 1 pc. in the evening. An interval of 4 to 6 hours should be observed between doses.

If nausea occurs, Novo-Passit tablets are taken with meals.

Side effects

In rare cases, while taking Novo-Passit, a decrease in concentration of attention, the development of disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, cramps, vomiting, nausea), slight muscle weakness, drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness, exanthema, allergic reactions are possible. These reactions quickly disappear after drug withdrawal.

Overdose

The main symptoms: initial manifestations - a feeling of drowsiness and depression, later it is possible to develop joint pain, nausea, slight muscle weakness, a feeling of heaviness in the stomach.

Therapy: drug withdrawal, prescription of symptomatic treatment.

During the period of taking the drug, you should not drink alcohol.

For patients receiving Novo-Passit, especially patients with fair skin, it is important to avoid exposure to ultraviolet radiation (visiting a solarium, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight).

In the absence of improvement in the condition, intensification of existing symptoms, the development of side effects or other unusual reactions, it is recommended to consult a doctor for advice.

The oral solution contains 12.19% ethanol; in a single dose, its content is no more than 0.481 g.

Patients with diabetes mellitus should take into account that 100 g of solution contains fructose (13.6-15.3 g) and glucose (12.5-14.2 g). In cases of taking the recommended doses, each of them contains no more than 1.53 g of fructose and 1.42 g of glucose.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms

During the period of treatment, patients should refrain from driving and conducting potentially hazardous activities.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

According to the instructions, Novo-Passit is contraindicated for use during lactation. With caution, having previously correlated the potential benefits to the mother with the perceived risks to the fetus, the drug is prescribed during pregnancy.

Pediatric use

The drug is contraindicated in children under the age of 12 years.

For violations of liver function

The drug is prescribed with caution to patients with liver pathologies.

Drug interactions

With the combined use of Novo-Passit with certain drugs / substances, the following effects may develop:

• other drugs: it is possible to enhance or weaken their action (before the combined admission, a medical consultation is necessary);
• alcohol and other substances that depress the central nervous system: Novo-Passit enhances their effect;
• drugs used to relax skeletal muscles: may increase the risk of side effects of the drug (muscle weakness in the first place);
• hormonal contraceptives, drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, acquired immune deficiency syndrome, bronchial diseases, prevention of thromboembolism, reducing the risk of a transplanted organ or tissue after transplantation: St. John's wort extract contained in the preparation reduces their effectiveness.
