Pharmacodynamics

Dexpanthenol is one of the derivatives of pantothenic acid, a water-soluble B vitamin (vitamin B 5), which is an indispensable component of coenzyme A. The active substance activates the skin regeneration process, helps to normalize cellular metabolism, and enhances the strength of collagen fibers. The need for vitamin B 5 increases in the case of tissue or skin damage, and the deficiency of this substance can be replenished by topical application of dexpanthenol.

Pharmacokinetics

When used externally, the drug is quickly absorbed by the skin and converted into pantothenic acid, enters into a bond with blood plasma proteins, mainly albumin and beta-globulin. The level of pantothenic acid in the blood varies from 0.5 to 1 mg / l, and in plasma is 100 μg / l.

In the body, vitamin B 5 does not undergo metabolic transformation and is eliminated by the kidneys unchanged.
