Dosage form - enteric-coated tablets: red-brown, round biconvex, the core of the tablet is white (10 pcs. In a blister, 5 packs in a cardboard box; 50 pcs. In polymer cans, in a cardboard box 1 can).
The active ingredient of Sehydrin is hydrazine sulfate, in 1 tablet - 60 mg.
Auxiliary components: low molecular weight povidone, calcium hydrogen phosphate, magnesium stearate, aerosil (colloidal silicon dioxide), titanium dioxide, methacrylic acid copolymer, macrogol 400, dimethicone, iron dye red oxide (iron oxide III) (E 172), talc.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Hydrazine sulfate inhibits the growth of tumor formations and affects some biochemical parameters: it slows down the metabolic processes of xenobiotics, reduces the permeability of cell membranes and biomembranes of subcellular structures, inhibits the activity of MAO (monoamine oxidase). The drug is characterized by symptomatic therapeutic effect in malignant neoplasms in the later stages. Sehydrin does not have myelodepressant and other side effects inherent in many other anticancer drugs.
Pharmacokinetics
The maximum concentration of hydrazine sulfate in the blood of patients is reached 2 hours after taking a dose of 60 mg (1 tablet). After 24 hours, the substance is still detected in trace amounts in the blood serum. A blood test carried out 9 hours after the completion of a 30-day course of therapy showed that its content in different patients varied from 0 to 89 ng / ml.
In studies of the pharmacokinetic parameters of the drug, animals with sarcoma 45 and outbred intact rats were involved. According to the results of these experiments, hydrazine sulfate, which was administered intragastrically at a dose of 100 mg / kg, was rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract (gastrointestinal tract) and was completely eliminated from the blood in 25–28 hours. The maximum content of the active substance in the blood of intact animals was recorded 50 minutes after administration, and in carriers of sarcoma 45 tumor - after 3 hours.
The results of this experiment showed that the accumulation of hydrazine sulfate in the lungs, kidneys and liver (but not in the tumor tissues) is 3–5 times higher than that in the blood, and the intact organs of both tumor carriers and healthy animals are completely cleared by the end of the fourth day … In healthy animals, hydrazine sulfate is excreted in the urine for three days in an amount of 50% of the dose taken, while in tumor carriers it is almost completely excreted between the first and second days, the degree of excretion is only 25% of the dose taken. In intact rats, the volume of distribution is 14 ml, and in the presence of tumor formations - 29.4 ml. Carriers of the tumor are considered to be more prone to accumulation of hydrazine sulfate.
The drug is involved in oxidative reactions in the body, and part of the dose that has not undergone oxidation is excreted unchanged through the kidneys, partly in the acetylated form (in rabbits and rats).
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Sehydrin is used in the symptomatic treatment of disseminated and local forms of malignant neoplasms in advanced stages (including the preterminal phase of the process) to reduce or eliminate pain syndrome (up to the withdrawal of narcotic pain relievers), shortness of breath, cough, feelings of weakness, fever, increased motor activity. activity, improved appetite.
Contraindications
- simultaneous use of barbiturates and ethanol-containing drugs;
- alcohol consumption;
- During pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- childhood;
- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Sehydrin should be used with caution in patients with severe renal and hepatic impairment.
Instructions for the use of Sehydrin: method and dosage
Sehydrin tablets are intended for oral administration.
The drug should be taken before or after meals and other medications at intervals of 1–2 hours.
Recommended dosage: 60 mg (1 tablet) 3 times a day, course dose - 100 tablets. If the drug is poorly tolerated, the daily dose can be reduced to 2 tablets without changing the dose for the course of treatment.
A repeated course should be started no earlier than 2 weeks later.
The number of courses is not limited, only the break between courses should be increased by 1-2 weeks each time.
Side effects
- possibly: dyspeptic symptoms (belching, nausea, vomiting);
- rarely: complications in the form of insomnia, general excitement, minor transient phenomena of polyneuritis.
Overdose
There are no reliable reports of an overdose of Sehydrin.
special instructions
The appointment of the drug and the monitoring of the therapy process is carried out by a specialist in the field of treatment of tumor pathologies. Patients with severe liver and / or kidney dysfunction require special monitoring.
Sehydrin is indicated for use in jaundice (including obstructive jaundice) due to liver metastases.
The patient should be provided with a diet that excludes foods rich in tyramine: sausages, cheese, canned foods, raisins, yoghurts. Do not consume any ethanol-containing drinks.
The absence of myelotoxicity in the action of Sehydrin allows it to be used in patients with cytopenia that developed after radiation and chemotherapy.
If dyspeptic symptoms occur, you should reduce the dose or take a break in treatment for several (2-3) days. In addition, oral administration of antispasmodics, antiemetics, vikalin, chamomile infusion, and romazulan is indicated.
In the treatment of neurotoxic effects, it is recommended to use intramuscular injection of a 5% solution of vitamin B 6, 1 ml 1-2 times a day, thiamine chloride (vitamin B 1), taking multivitamin preparations inside, intravenous administration of 20-40% glucose solution.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
In pregnant and lactating women, the possibility of using Sehydrin has not been investigated, therefore its appointment is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding (lactation).
Pediatric use
Due to the lack of experience in use, Sehydrin is contraindicated in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
With impaired renal function
Sehydrin is prescribed with caution to patients with severe renal impairment. Therapy should be carried out under constant medical supervision.
For violations of liver function
Patients with severely impaired liver function are prescribed Sehydrin with caution. Therapy should be carried out under constant medical supervision.
Jaundice caused by liver metastases (especially obstructive jaundice) is not a contraindication for the use of the drug.
Drug interactions
A sharp increase in the toxicity of Sehydrin is caused by concomitant therapy with neuroleptics, barbiturates, tranquilizers, the use of ethanol-containing drinks and drugs.
In laboratory experiments on animals, the preliminary use of the drug increased the effectiveness of many anticancer agents, except for cyclophosphamide.
Analogs
The analogues of Sehydrin are Visprazine, Erivedzh, Arglabin, Bartizar, Halaven, Faridak, Boramilan, Linparza, Neksavar, Ninlaro, etc.
Terms and conditions of storage
Store in a place protected from light and moisture at temperatures up to 25 ° C. Keep out of the reach of children.
The shelf life is 3 years.
Terms of dispensing from pharmacies

Reviews of Sehydrin
Reviews of Sehydrin are often found on specialized forums and sites, but they are often negative. Patients report treatment failure or the development of severe adverse reactions that aggravate the condition. Among the latter, arterial hypertension, dizziness, and intense headaches are often mentioned. To minimize such manifestations during treatment, doctors advise giving up alcohol, following a strict diet and avoiding eating foods rich in tyramine such as legumes, smoked meats, sauerkraut, cheeses, etc.
During the course of therapy, patients often complain of nausea, which requires a dosage reduction. However, at the same time, the therapeutic effect also worsens, and this makes the use of Sehydrin useless.
Some doctors question the advisability of using this drug, and reports of significant improvement in patients' condition are quite rare. Other experts recommend prescribing Sehydrin to patients who have undergone all types of specific therapy to alleviate the condition. They argue that practically everyone has a better quality of life for 2–3 weeks, due to relief of pain, which makes it possible to delay the appointment of morphine.
Patients recommend consulting several specialists before starting treatment.
