Sedal-M is an analgesic-antipyretic, a combined preparation with analgesic, antipyretic, sedative, antispasmodic action.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - tablets: round, with a smooth flat surface, chamfer and dividing line, white or almost white (10 pcs. In a blister, in a cardboard box 1 or 2 blisters).
The active ingredients in Sedal-M (in 1 tablet):
- paracetamol: 0.3 g;
- phenobarbital: 0.015 g;
- metamizole sodium: 0.15 g;
- codeine phosphate: 0.01 g;
- caffeine: 0.05 g.
Auxiliary components: povidone K25, lactose, magnesium stearate, corn starch, sodium carboxymethyl starch, glycerol.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Sedal-M is a combined drug with antipyretic, analgesic and anti-migraine effects. It eliminates the symptoms of SARS and flu.
Metamizole is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that exhibits analgesic and antispasmodic effects on the smooth muscles of the biliary and urinary tract. Paracetamol is characterized by antipyretic and analgesic effects. Caffeine has a general tonic effect (increases blood pressure in hypotonic conditions, helps to get rid of drowsiness and fatigue, increases heart rate, improves physical and mental performance). Codeine raises the pain threshold and acts as a pain reliever. Phenobarbital has an antispasmodic and sedative effect.
Indications for use
- relief of pain syndrome of mild and moderate severity: migraine, headache, neuralgia, pain in muscles and joints, sciatica, toothache, painful menstruation, postoperative and traumatic pain;
- pain syndrome and fever in acute inflammatory pathologies of the upper respiratory tract, infectious and inflammatory diseases, including influenza.
Contraindications
- acute myocardial infarction;
- arterial hypertension;
- arrhythmia;
- severe kidney and / or liver dysfunction;
- conditions accompanied by respiratory depression;
- bronchospasm;
- exacerbation of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer;
- blood diseases (hemolytic anemia, leukopenia);
- traumatic brain injury;
- increased intracranial pressure;
- deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase;
- age up to 12 years;
- the period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- state of alcoholic intoxication;

According to the instructions, Sedal-M should be prescribed with caution in case of functional disorders of the kidneys and liver, gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer during remission, elderly patients.
Instructions for use Sedal-M: method and dosage
The tablets are taken orally during meals with a sufficient amount of liquid.
The dosage regimen is prescribed by the doctor based on clinical indications.
For symptomatic therapy, 1 tablet is indicated. In the absence of a clinical effect, you can take 1 tab. 4 times a day. The duration of treatment when taken as an analgesic is no more than five days, as an antipyretic - no more than three days.
The daily dose should not exceed 6 tab., Single - 2 tab.

Side effects
- cardiovascular system: palpitations;

Overdose
An overdose of Sedal-M can be determined by the following symptoms: depression of the central nervous system (slow reflexes, drowsiness, dizziness); sometimes - significant weakness, depression of the respiratory center, dryness in the mouth; rarely - fainting.
As a treatment, it is necessary to artificially induce vomiting and rinse the stomach, and then take activated charcoal. If necessary, symptomatic therapy is recommended.

There is a high risk of developing hypersensitivity reactions in patients with pollinosis and atopic bronchial asthma.
Tablets may interfere with performance in doping control studies in athletes.
The components of the combined composition of the drug have a significant effect on the central nervous system, affect the speed of psychomotor reactions. Therefore, it is recommended to refrain from driving vehicles and mechanisms after taking the pill.

While taking Sedal-M:
- other non-opioid analgesics - can cause increased toxic effects;
- tricyclic antidepressants, allopurinol, oral contraceptives - increase the toxicity of the drug;
- inducers of microsomal liver enzymes (including phenylbutazone), barbiturates - reduce the analgesic and antispasmodic effect of metamizole sodium;
- tranquilizers, sedatives - enhance the analgesic effect of the drug;
- metoclopramide - accelerates the absorption of paracetamol;
- enveloping and astringent agents, adsorbents - help to reduce the absorption of codeine from the gastrointestinal tract, which is a component of the drug;
- cyclosporine - under the action of sodium metamizole, the concentration of cyclosporine in the blood plasma decreases;
- ergotamine - its absorption is accelerated by caffeine.
With concomitant therapy with anticoagulants (dicoumarin derivatives), repeated administration of the drug may enhance their effect (due to the influence of paracetamol, which is part of Sedal-M).
