Grippferon (Grippferon) - a drug from the pharmacological group of interferons, intended for the prevention and treatment of colds viral diseases.
Composition and form of release
The active ingredient is recombinant human interferon alpha 2 b. According to the instructions of Grippferon, 1 ml of the drug includes 10000 IU of the active substance and auxiliary components (sodium chloride, disodium edetate dihydrate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, macrogol, subvidone, sterile water.)
The drug is available in the form of nasal drops and dosed nasal spray. Drops and spray are in a plastic bottle with a dispenser of 5 or 10 ml in a cardboard box (instructions for use are attached).
Grippferon is a clear, colorless solution (light yellow tint is allowed).
Pharmacological action of Grippferon
The drug has immunomodulatory, antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects. According to the instructions, Grippferon is practically not absorbed into the bloodstream and can be used to treat children of any age.
Indications for use
- prevention of influenza and colds (during periods of increased morbidity and epidemics) in children and adults;
- treatment of influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections in children and adults.
Contraindications to the use of Grippferon
Hypersensitivity to the constituent components of the drug, and severe forms of allergies.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Grippferon during pregnancy is allowed to be used at any gestational age, the dosage is selected according to age. According to reviews, Grippferon is well tolerated by pregnant women and does not cause toxic effects. The drug does not penetrate into breast milk and can be used by a nursing mother for the treatment and prevention of colds.
Method of administration and dose of Grippferon
Treatment with this drug should be started at the first symptoms of the disease and then used for 5 days.
Grippferon for children is allowed to be used from the first days after birth.
The dosage of the drug for the treatment of ARVI is selected depending on age:
Grippferon for children from 0 to 1 year old is prescribed 1 drop in each nasal passage up to 5 times a day (daily dose 5000 IU);
Grippferon for children from 1 to 3 years old is prescribed 2 drops in each nasal passage 3-4 times a day (daily dose 8000 IU);
Grippferon for children from 3 to 14 years old is recommended 2 drops 4-5 times a day (daily dose 10000 IU);
For adults and children over 14 years of age, the drug is prescribed 5-6 times a day, 3 drops (daily dose 18000 IU).
After instilling this drug into the nasal passages, it is recommended to massage the wings of the nose for a few minutes so that the drug is evenly distributed in the nasal cavity.
When using a spray, press the sprayer several times before the first use, before a cloud of spray appears. For the introduction of Grippferon, the spray device is inserted into the nasal passage and pressed, 1 dose of the drug corresponds to 1 press. In children under 2 years of age, it is better to use nasal drops.
In order to prevent colds and flu, Grippferon is prescribed 1-2 times a day at an age-specific dosage. The prophylactic course should last 7-14 days.
Overdose
Cases of overdose with Grippferon have not been described.
Side effects of Grippferon
Allergic reactions may occur. According to reviews, Grippferon rarely causes side effects, as a rule, they are mild. The use of Grippferon during pregnancy is permissible, the drug has no teratogenic effects.
Interaction with other medicinal products
According to the instructions, Grippferon is not recommended to be used together with local vasoconstrictors (such as Nazivin, Xymelin, etc.), as this can lead to additional drying of the nasal mucosa.
