Gastrofarm is an antacid analgesic drug used in the treatment of gastritis, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer.
Release form and composition
Gastrofarm is produced in the form of tablets: with smooth edges, flat, round, beige-brown color, the presence of color irregularities and inclusions in the form of "marbling" is permissible, with a risk on one side (6 pcs. In blisters, 1 or 3 blisters in a cardboard box).
The composition of 1 tablet contains active substances:
- Substance - 157.5 mg (contains viable dried cells of Lactobacillus delbrueckii spp. Bulgaricus strain 51 (LB-51) - not less than 1 × 10 2 cells);
- Lactic acid - 6.3-12.6%;
- Protein - 25-35% (in terms of total nitrogen - 4-5.6%).
Auxiliary components: magnesium stearate, sucrose (up to 900 mg).
Pharmacological properties
Gastrofarm contains live lactobacilli Lactobacillus bulgaricus-51 (LB-51). These microorganisms and their metabolic products, which have biological activity (polypeptides and polysaccharides, malic and lactic acids, some alpha-amino acids, nucleic acids), as well as a high concentration of proteins (25-30%) have a beneficial effect on the state of the gastrointestinal mucosa, activating the processes regeneration of the mucous membrane of the duodenum and stomach.
The protein contained in Gastrofarm has buffer properties, which determines the analgesic and antacid effect of the drug.

Indications for use

The tablets should be taken orally 30 minutes before meals, chewed with a little water. Also Gastrofarm can be preliminarily crushed and mixed with boiled water at room temperature.
With increased acidity of gastric juice and gastritis (chronic and acute), the drug is taken 3 times a day:
- Adults - 1-2 tablets;
- Children 12-18 years old - 1 tablet each;
- Children 3-12 years old - ½ tablet.
The duration of the treatment course is 30 days. As a rule, the effect is observed after 7 days of use.
If in the treatment of acute gastritis it is not possible to achieve the desired effect, it is possible to increase the daily dose by 2 times.
In case of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, adults are prescribed 3-4 tablets 3 times a day. The duration of the therapeutic course is 30 days.
For preventive purposes, Gastrofarm is used for 15 days. Single dose - 1-2 tablets, the frequency of taking the drug - 3 times a day. In case of abuse of smoking or alcohol, the drug is taken according to the same scheme, while the frequency of administration can be reduced to 2 times a day.
