Release form and composition
Available in tablets (10 pcs. In a blister, in a box of 10 or 100 blisters).
Active ingredient: gamma-aminobutyric acid, in 1 tablet - 250 mg.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
The active substance of Gammalon - gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA, GABA), helps to restore metabolic processes in the brain, utilize glucose, remove toxic metabolic products, stabilize and reduce high blood pressure. It has a mild psychostimulating effect, accelerates the recovery of speech and movements after cerebral circulation disorders, and normalizes the dynamics of nervous processes.
The main effects of the drug include increasing the productivity of thinking, improving memory, reducing dizziness, and normalizing sleep.
Indications for use
For adults, the drug is prescribed for the following diseases / conditions:
- Arterial hypertension, especially accompanied by headache, sleep disturbances, dizziness;
- Atherosclerosis of the cerebral arteries with symptoms of softening of the brain;
- Conditions after craniocerebral trauma and diseases accompanied by disorders of cerebral circulation;
- Alcoholic polyneuritis and encephalopathy.
For children, Gammalon is recommended in the following cases:
- Consequences of birth trauma;
- Cerebral paralysis;
- Lagging mental development;
- Conditions after traumatic brain injury and cerebrovascular accident.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to drug components.
Instructions for the use of Gammalon: method and dosage
The tablets should be taken orally before meals.
Adults are prescribed 3-3.75 g per day.
Recommended daily doses of Gammalon for children:
- over 7 years old - 3 g;
- 4-6 years old - 2-3 g;
- 1-3 years - 1-2 years
The daily dose must be divided into 3 doses.
The duration of therapy is from 2 weeks to 4 months.
For the treatment and prevention of motion sickness syndrome, the drug should be taken 3 times a day: adults - 0.5 g, children - 0.25 g, course - 3-4 days.
