Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Eye drops Vizmed restore the tear film, compensate for the lack of tear fluid, has a keratoprotective effect.
Ophthalmic hydrogel is a solution of highly purified sodium hyaluronate obtained by bacterial fermentation. Sodium hyaluronate is a natural polysaccharide that is a structural component of eye tissue, in particular the vitreous body.
Sodium hyaluronate is similar in action to the pre-corneal tear film, since it has similar hydrophilic and mucoadhesive properties. In medium and high concentrations, this polysaccharide has a protective and anti-inflammatory effect on the cornea, stimulates regeneration processes.
All Wizmed preparations are distinguished by such physical characteristics as viscoelasticity and the ability to retain water, as a result of which a uniform pre-corneal film forms on the surface of the cornea, which persists for a long time, does not wash off when blinking and does not reduce visual acuity.
The low viscosity of the hydrogel during blinking and the increase in viscosity between blinks ensure full coverage of the eye surface, which prevents irritation and dryness.
The concentration of ions and their composition in solutions are identical to natural tears, so the preparations allow you to quickly restore the water-salt and water-electrolyte balance of cells.
Hydrogels are hypoosmolar, therefore they compensate for the hyperosmolarity of the altered tear fluid and prevent its penetration into cracks, thereby limiting corneal damage.
Pharmacokinetics
No information available.
Indications for use
- dry eye syndrome and / or itching, irritation, redness, feeling of sand or a foreign body in the eye, increased or decreased tear production, deterioration of visual function in the evening, eye fatigue due to exposure to dust or air conditioning, smoke, excessive dry air, working in front of a computer monitor, wearing contact lenses and other factors;
- eye injuries and burns;
- corneal erosion;
- keratitis of various etiologies;
- degenerative diseases of the cornea;
- inflammatory eye diseases (in combination therapy);
- the period before and after surgical interventions on the cornea.
Contraindications
Vizmed preparations are contraindicated for use in case of hypersensitivity to any component in their composition.
Wizmed, instructions for use: method and dosage
Hydrogels are instilled into the conjunctival sac of each eye (with the head thrown back and pulling the lower eyelid), 1-2 drops. The frequency of instillations, depending on the severity of the condition, can be from 1 to 3 times a day. The solution creates a long-lasting, stable coating on the surface of the eye, so too frequent instillations are not required.
The solutions can be dripped overnight, if necessary, applied to contact lenses (both soft and hard), and there is no need to remove them, since the drug does not cloud the vision.
Preparing the container / vial for use:
- Wizmed and Wizmed gel: open the container by twisting the break-off cap clockwise;
- Wizmed light: before the first use, turn the screw cap of the bottle counterclockwise until the sealing ring is completely separated;
- Wizmed multi: before first use, remove the safety ring, carefully remove the cap from the dropper bottle.
Side effects
At the beginning of the use of all Vismed eye drops, a short-term (usually quickly passing) burning sensation is possible after instillation. In very rare cases, the following side effects are noted: irritation of the conjunctiva, redness of the eyes, foreign body sensation, short-term blurred vision.
Overdose
No information available.
special instructions
Avoid contact of the tip of an open vial / container / tube with the surface of the eye, hands and other surfaces.
Vismed and Vismed gel are packaged in disposable dropper tubes and do not contain preservatives, therefore they are intended for single use only. In the event that a solution remains in the dropper tube, it cannot be used, since its sterility may be violated.
If the packaging is visibly damaged, do not use the hydrogel.
If, when using the drug, complaints of irritation or dryness of the eyes persist, a doctor's consultation is required.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms
Immediately after instillation, it is recommended to refrain from performing potentially hazardous activities, including driving.
Drug interactions
The use of other ophthalmic agents can reduce the effectiveness of Wizmed preparations. Therefore, with the simultaneous use of other eye drops between instillations, intervals of at least 30 minutes should be observed. With the combined appointment of eye ointments, they can be used no earlier than 30 minutes after the instillation of Vismed preparations.
Analogs
Analogs of Wizmed are: Istil, Videstim, Vidisik, Vizomitin, Defislez, Lakropos, Oftagel, Oftolik, Restasis, Natural Tear, Vid-Komod, Vizin, Lens-Komod, Optinol, Hilo-Komod, Hilosar-Komod, Khilomax-Komod, etc. …
