Berberine is a choleretic drug that has an antispasmodic effect.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - tablets: yellow with lighter small inclusions, cylindrical flat shape with a bevel (10 pcs. In a blister, in a cardboard box 2, 3 or 5 packs).
1 tablet contains:
- active substance: berberine bisulfate (barberry alkaloid) - 5 mg;
- auxiliary components: talc, potato starch, lactose (milk sugar), calcium stearate.

The drug has an antispasmodic and choleretic effect.
Main effects:
- a decrease in the tone of the muscles of the gallbladder, a decrease in the amplitude of its contractions, which contributes to bile secretion;
- an increase in the secretion of bile and a decrease in its viscosity;
- normalization of the biochemical composition of bile.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Berberine is used to treat chronic pathologies: dysfunction of the gallbladder, hypotonic sphincter of Oddi, biliary tract, liver.
Contraindications
- period of pregnancy;
- individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Patients with cholelithiasis should take Berberine tablets with caution.
Instructions for the use of Berberine: method and dosage
Berberine tablets are intended to be taken by mouth before meals.
Recommended dosage: 1–2 pcs. 3 times a day, the duration of the course of treatment is 2-4 weeks.
